  1. hickory hut has pretty good tea.

i make my tea in the coffe pot. I drink coffee about 2 times a year, so it is perfect for tea.Fill the pot up to the top pour in coffee maker. Use ONLY TETLEY tea bags, use 2 family size put them in the pot, brew the water over the bags, as soon as it is finished pour in pitcher over 2 cups of sugar, refill coffee pot with cold water and pour in pitcher, stir, squeeze out the tea bags in the pitcher, chill.

    :good:

now that's how you make tea in the south grumps....

  2. Put 6 teabags in a small sauce pan about half filled. bring to a boil. set for a couple of minutes and pour into a gallon pitcher. fill with water. pull bags from pitcher, give a light squeeze to get the good stuff out. fill a 32 oz glass with ice and pour tea into it. go out on porch and sit in the swing and enjoy your tea.

what no sugar???? obviously not a true southerner.

  3. I just registered for this great new service, Nixle, and think you should, too. It immediately connects you to trusted, important, time-sensitive information via text message, e-mail, and web. Get neighborhood-level public safety and health alerts and other relevant community information that you've never been able to get anywhere else. Kind of like twitter, but for law enforcement agencies to spread valuable information to their jurisdictions very quickly.

  4. I don't think what happens in prison is the same.

What happens in prison would be classified as Rape, in most cases.

Sorry to disagree with you, but I must on this point.

i agree....male prisoners who sleep with other men aren't gay, they're just horny with no other options! outside the prison walls, most would choose a partner of the opposite sex.

  5. ... then you totally miss the point of the CRCT.

The CRCT is here to ensure that kids aren't passed along just because "they get good grades". Has it ever occurred to you that perhaps the reason the child has good grades is because the teacher was overly lenient in grading in order to promote more students out of their class, thereby making them look like they are a more successful teacher?

That is precisely what the CRCT is here to stop.

There is nothing on that test that shouldn't have been covered in class. If little Johnny is a straight-A student but fails the CRCT, something doesn't add up, and it points squarely at a system that promoted him without really knowing the content.

Honestly, i think the entire system is screwed~

  6. QUOTE (MotorCity MadMan @ Apr 22 2009, 09:21 AM)

To answer the actual question - neither. This whole "issue" is proof that we have become a society run by gossip rags and high school pre-school like behavior. Honestly the guy is only "famous" for running a website that basically stalks people. I really don't understand why anyone would care about Hilton, Ms. Cali or Ms. USA for that matter.

To answer the question you are really asking - Yes, gay people should have the right to marry. They are citizens of the US just like everyone else and should be afforded the same rights and benifits

gays already have the same rights as we (straight people) do. They have the right to get married now, just not to someone of the same sex (just like we can)! I'm so sick of everyone saying they (gays) have different rights. They have the exact SAME rights as we do, they can get married, have children, get health insurance and all of that.......just like we can. They are the ones who choose a partner of the same sex so they are excluding themselves from all the rewards of marraige.

  7. We encouraged 1st grader to get a good nights sleep, eat a good breakfast and do his best and we left it at that.

great advice.....that's about all we (as parents) can do at this point! Other than pray ALOT! LOL

  8. Very well said, but I do think my son's teacher cares whether he passes or not.

I'm sure some teachers really do care and maybe i should have re-worded that, but generally speaking they are more concerned about THEIR test results, not our childrens'.

  9. FIRST....I do not think a child should be held back strictly based off his or her CRCT results. If a child has passed the class (based on report cards) then consideration should be made when it comes down to whether or not he or she is promoted to the next grade. If a kid is passing the class but fails the CRCT, then they should still be promoted...no questions asked. Maybe the kid just had a bad day or maybe they're just not a good test taker, but passing or failing should NOT be based on the results of one test alone!

SECOND....I totally agree that the CRCT results mean more for the teachers and educational system than the kids. The reason the teachers have been cramming it down our childrens' throats for the past few weeks is because THEY (the teachers) are afraid that it will reflect poorly on them. They aren't concerned about whether or not our children pass or not....it's really pretty sad.
