  1. It never seems to amaze me when a coach is winning he cannot do no wrong but, when he is losing, people jump on a band wagon and beat him down.Yes they were some calls that the officals made that were questionable, and 4 interceptions,4th and inches and you run outside.I agree there are some players that need to be playing but, there are reasons why some are not playing due to attitudes and other reasons.I know people who teach at East and I have kids that go there and I hear about what some of them are doing at school.

So,don't always assume negative things about a coach unless you know the whole story.I used to coach myself for several years @ Winston and I coached #28 Vincent Holmes and #85 Brian Lackey there and I know what is is like to be dogged when things are not going the way parents and spectators think they should be.

Lets all get behind this team and go up to Milton and show them what true fans are all about and kick some butt! :clapping:

    Gooooooooooooo Raiders!!!!! Good luck!!!!

  2. I would like to know why we are in the shape we are in with the gas.I talked with my son tonight,he is in the Air Force stationed in Boiser City,La.I asked him if gas was in short supply there and he said, what gas shortage?Gas is $3.55 a gallon there and there is no shortage there so,what the hell is going on here in Georgia? Can someone shine some light on this.

  3. Mine was a 1969 Chevelle black on black, bought the car in 1980 for $1,600.00,about this, back in black album by AC/DC came out the same year, that was the tag I had on my car.Everyone at school new my car,My parents repainted it for my graduation present and I built a LT-1 350 ,365 horse motor instead of going on my senior trip, polished centerlines, built 350 turbo tranny,ss hood, interior.I sold my car in 1984 to buy my first house in Hiram. What I would give to have that car back now,so many memories in that car! :D

  4. Just wondering how many of us are on here. If so, where do you work, for how long, and what do you do? Me, I am a Captain for the City of Atlanta Fire. Been there for 18 years. I am currently the Hazardous Materials Coordinator for the Airport Division. I spent most of my career in the downtown area on North Ave and a few years on the heavy rescue/hazmat team.

I work for Cobb County Fire, yesterday was 22 yrs,I work at st#3 in East Cobb.I was on Cobbs heavy rescue for a little while but now I'm on a Air truck, fire support unit.I spent most of my career in the first battalion, which is south cobb area.

  5. :( My Lt.my boss,my friend passed away this morning due to a long battle with cancer. He was such a wonderful person,he made our stressful everyday job at the fire house not seem so bad. I loved coming to work the 6 1/2 years I worked with him, he will be dearly missed by us all.He was only 38 yrs young,he leaves behind a wonderful wife Amy,a son Tanner 15 and daughter Marybeth 12.Please remember my dear friend and family in yours prayers, and me as well,I have never been through this before and I'm hurting inside. :(

    Thanks,

  6. :angry2: Once again another school in Paulding County was vandalized, this time it was Hershel Jones Middle School, again. The ages of the kids,8 YEARS OLD!Yes 8 years old.I cannot tell you how much money Paulding County has paid to repair windows and it just gets worse each summer. The kids broke out several windows and that seems to be the trend there along with other schools.

I knew better growing up to do something that stupid because my dad would have kicked my butt to no end.It seems like kids now a days have no morals or respect for anyone or anybody things.Am I the only one that feels this way?Our schools, bus drivers deal with these kids everyday during the school year and they can only do so much to these kids.People are complaining about Matthews alternative school being shut down well, who gives a ratts a#@ if there kid cannot behave and act like a normal human being and there is no school for them to go to.Thats whats wrong today, parents keep making up excuses for there kids actions and not looking in the mirror and seeing the whole problem staring them back in the face.

I see it,hear about everyday, somebody's kid did something wrong but,the parents blame someone else for what there son or daughter did and no one whats to take responsibility. My kids no for a fact what would happen to them if they did something like that and they know how to respect there elders, teachers or whoever.I was taught you say sir or mam when being spoken to or always being polite and til this day I still say sir or mam to people, even my kids.

I coached football for years and dealt with kids that didn't have very much respect for anything but, they learned on the field if they where going to be able to play they had to earn the respect from there coaches and there team mates. It always bothered me to see some kids that could never do that and they were kicked off the team, most of the time they would learn how to.So,it goes back to the saying,it has to start at home,if you don't teach your kids at home, what chance does a kid have anywhere else? :angry2:

Does anyone else feel this way?

  7. Me and my wife ate there and it was terrible! I saw on the menu that they had fried salmon patties like grand ma made, that sounded good, they looked like cat food and tasted bad.Not like my grand ma ever made.Nice place and some what good service but,not the food.My wife even said that her food was not very good either and she never complains, sorry.

  8. I'm sorry but, this time I have to voice my opinion because this kind of stuff really pisses me off.My opinion only,This guy killed a man, someones dad, brother, son, best friend or what ever and you think thats not awful enough to be put to death? How awful does a crime have to be?Dead is dead and theres no coming back. Some people take life for granted and they take a childs life for granted.Victims of crime do not have any rights, you will always be a victim if something happens to you,it never goes away. You have to keep on keeping on and pray that your kids are more protected than you were.Hope they never have to experience what you went through.Again,I hope an pray that I never have to go through this with my kids or family but,I was taught you do the crime, you do the time and face what ever justice comes your way.

I have no sympathy for killers, rapist, and especially child molesters. It eats me up inside for someone to feel so much sorrow for these kind criminals. What rights did this victim have?None,he got the death penalty, shot and killed and you don't think thats enough for this guy to get the same?

Again, what do you think is awful,is any form of death not bad enough?People need to fear what could happen to them if they do something awful to another human being and we as Americans don't.The laws are to forgiving to crimanals.Look at Brian Nichols,he is on video walking away after killing people, people sat there and watched,he should already be executed but he has rights. This brings us back to his victims,THEY HAD NO RIGHTS,HE TOOK THEM AWAY....AND THATS NOT AWFUL ENOUGH :angry2:

  9. Ok, the house is just " DIRTY " and it needs a bath. Are we allowed to pressure wash homes ? Anyone know ?

I talked with PC water Dept. and there response was only Business's that deal with any pressure washing are allowed to.

You can call them direct and talk with someone and they can tell you all you need to know.I pressure wash homes also but,I would first call them so you will know for sure.I talked with them about two weeks ago and that is what they told me then.

    Good luck

  10. SQUEAKY D, You just made my day. I got all choked up while trying to read your post to my wife. That my friend, is what life is all about. Like Spyder said, we see and hear all the bad things like murder, rape, road rage, stealing, and robbing, that we tend to forget the good in people like you and your buddies. You did a wonderful thing for that gentleman and his family and when the end does come, he will feel better knowing that he has friends that really care for him and his family. Spyder, I am glad I don't have your job and have to deal with all the evil people, day after day. That would be depressing I know. I hope all these good stories will cheer you up too. If it wasn't for you and your buddies, we would see a lot more evil on our streets. Thank all of you for what you do and have done. weatherboy

I appreciate that, I knew when I wrote about JC it was going to choke some people up but, I just wanted to share my story with people and this happened to be a good thread to jump on.

    Thanks!

Southern Scarlett you are a sweetie. you are Jessie's angel.

  11. Tell me some good news. I get tired of watching the news and all news is bad. Tell me something that a total stranger did (or even a friend) for you that just made your day. Maybe something you did for someone else that made their day. I just had a man on my porch whose car had gone dead in front of my house. It only took about ten minutes of my time to jump his car off, but to him it meant the difference between getting his family home or sitting in the road. I believe there are still a lot of good people in this world that we never hear about. One of them might be you. Tell me some good things that have happened to you.

P.S. My post usually gets kicked to the back.

I have a dear friend of mine dying of cancer,he also used to be my LT. with the fire dept.He is now at home since finding out for the third time that his cancer was back, he had to leave his place of work with deep regret.I called a couple of former people who had worked around him and we all wanted to take him out for lunch and see how bad it really was.We all met for lunch and we found out the details, bad news, but what happens next will blow your mind.

He talked about his wife and 2 kids, 1 son 14 and 1 daughter 12 to whom he was upset that he was not going to be here to teach his son how to drive or walk his daughter down the isle. This all took place the first of last November,my friend Jeff asked what could we do,he said nothing,we asked what he wanted, again nothing but to watch after his family when he left this world.

So,we sat there and talked about old times and practical jokes we did on one another at the fire house thats when Jeff asked ,would he like to go back to Hawaii with his whole family if possible,(the reason for this question was he had always wished he could go back with his kids along with him),he said yes but, never really thought it would happen.

We finished lunch, had a waitress take a couple of pics and we said our goodbyes. The next day my friend John that was there talked about what we could do to make this happen,I opened a non profit bank account in my name with his name under mine stating, J.C. make a wish, all donations made out for deposit only.I got the ball rolling and it really snow balled with so many people wanting give and help out in there on way too.Our union got involved and it really went world wide.I had people calling me from LA.Cailf. to New York wanting to see what they could do.

The first couple of days started with a trickle of donations then,a firefighter from the city of Atlanta called me and asked was this for real, this guy had came to Cobb a few years back to help train us on the use of Large diameter hose, and he remembered my friend and what a lasting impression he had made with him.He said he was between churchs and his wife and him had saved there church money up and wanted to know if it would help out with our goal.Which was to send JC and his family to Hawaii before Christmas. It did,a $2,000.00 donation and the rest, well,we sent his whole family to Maui for 9 days, first class, limo ride to and from the airport,Atlanta fire sent 1 engine and a ladder truck to help with luggage and to see him off,the first class airline tickets where donated by a Delta pilot by which I had the privilege of meeting this man.The hotel room was a luxury suite in Maui with a ocean view, which the manager gave it to us for them well under half the regular price, and breakfeast everyday too.A 2008 Mustang convertable, his son asked if possible, for a car rental while there. They went there Dec 3.

Over all so far,I have written checks to JC and his family from donations from firefighters, police and everyday people wanting to give to this family, a little over $40,000.00 dollars, the first $37,000.00 in less than a month, now hows that for a great story!

Just the other day I received a check from NYFD fallen firefighters family fund for $500.00 made out to JC's wife.

I talked with my friend JC this last weekend and he called to thank me for the card and the checks that I had sent him this past week and for me to tell everyone thank you.He has been so overwhelmed with all the kindness from everyone that he could never say thank you enough. So I'm saying it for him also.THANK YOU.

This ought give you a little insite on the love a firefighter has for one another, and my son,who is in the Military says that it is the same way there too. There is indeed a sad ending to this story to come but,the good,we all came together as one to make a dream come true and it did, everyone did there part and some did extra.

If this doesn't touch your heart in someway well, thats your problem. This proves there is good news, heart touching news that makes all the bad news, well, not seem so bad after all. :D

  12. An officer from the SO confirmed for me that two adults were arrested and a third juvenile was detained at YDC.

This sounds like the same vehicle and maybe the same perp, a friend of mine who lives 2 houses up from me on Popular Springs Rd told me last Tuesday he was at home working around his house. He heard his dog barking and came around the house to find a dark dodge SUV sitting in his driveway about 200 ft up into it,which by the way his house is about 600 ft off the roadway. He then went back into his house to get his gun just in case,as he has been ripped off before. As he started across his yard with his gun behind him in his back pocket to which he never revealed it,a black male got out of the vehicle raised the hood and said oh well, jumped back into the car and hauled a## out of his driveway nearly hitting another on coming car.

Sounded kinda fishy to me for someone to pull up your in driveway that far to just jump out when he saw my friend.I guess there was a reason he was at home that day instead of work, hum. :o

Just thought I would pass that along to others

  13. Is Bullard before or after Lost Mtn. Rd. if you're coming from Dallas going towards Powder Springs Rd.? I travel that stretch twice a day to and from work and I should know, but just can't picture it right now. I get on Macland at Lost Mtn. and then travel to Cobb. I kept hearing about this on the traffic report this morning but I didn't see anything at all - I was going through there around 8:15 to 8:30.

Working my shift at Cobb Fire today, heard dispatch, overturn vehicle at Bullard Rd,occupants out of vehicle, maybe minor injuries only. :p
