Many folks have not had a refresher course on driving laws since they learned to drive, and the only new laws they may encounter are major ones on the news. We hope so! The students get a lot out of it, especially if they have not had any kind of formal driving training before. We're covering backing up, quick stops, parallel parking, highway driving, and in the last session of the 6 hour driving package if the student has done well on the previous skills, we head to the interstate to do interstate driving also.

Some kind of driving is mandatory, either at least 6 hours of behind the wheel with the school, or the Parent-Teen Driving Guide with a detailed 40-hour notarized driving log. Also, with the 6 hours of behind the wheel driving, you get the $150 tax credit, at least 10% off of your insurance, and a Defensive Driving class that most insurance companies accept for an additional 10% off of your insurance. You save a lot of money if the student completes behind the wheel with the school.

It would be all 4 Saturdays (for a total of 30 hours). We do have openings for the August Saturday classes, and the deposit is 10% of whichever course you'd like her to take. Students can take the classroom portion of the course even before they get their permit- a permit is required just for behind the wheel driving instruction. She will probably want to take her classroom course before she goes back to school in early August, just before taking her permit test when she turns 15. With the knowledge of everything that's covered in the classroom, she can take her permit test without much difficulty. At that point, you can either do the behind the wheel instruction yourself through the Parent-Teen Driving Guide, or she can complete at least 6 hours of behi

For the classroom portion of the course, the hours are from 9AM-5PM, and lunch is at 12:30PM. You'll want to be here a bit earlier on the first day of class (between 8:30 and 8:45 works best), but the rest of the days he can come right in. At the moment, any student who wants to get their license at the age of 16 must complete a driver's education course, either doing the 30-hour class with the Parent Teen Driving Guide, or completing the 30-hour course with at least 6 hours of behind the wheel driving with a state licensed driving school.
