  1. I saw commercial last week that Kia plant in Troup County is hiring & taking applications 2/12-13 (I think!) - better check on that if you're interested - for line positions. If I remember right, the comm. said they have hundreds of positions. Good luck, God bless you!

  2. I don't know if this has been discussed yet but if not...does anyone know if they are doing fireworks in Dallas this weekend? If not what are the close places...other than Marietta?

Powder Springs will have theirs Friday night - always a pretty good show and they have activities before downtown. I think it all starts at 6pm, with fireworks at dark. Have fun!

  3. Yep! Someone told us about Cedar Point a few days ago - amusement park with lots of roller coasters. We had never heard of it so I googled it. I think the website said it's only about an hour from CLE. Sounded like fun...

  4. FYI - McEachern UMC in Powder Springs (mceachernumc.org) is having their Spring consignment sale next week (week of 3/3). I believe it starts Thursday night and goes through Saturday (at noon or 1). Check their website for the exact info. This is a GREAT sale. They have LOTS of (nice, clean) clothes plus lots of toys, maternity, nursery, formal gowns (prom, etc.), shoes, strollers, bikes, and much more! They have one every Spring and one every Fall. Last Fall I bought my daughter's entire Fall/Winter wardrobe (coats included) for about $80.00 - no joke. (One item I found was a pair of Anne Taylor pants, brand new, for $5.) They always have really good quality items.

p.s. No strollers are allowed into the building where the sale is (by order of the fire marshall). Good luck!

  5. I really loved growing up in Paulding County ! Back when the Rakestraws , Stricklands and Hardy Boys were the head honchos. And the only grocer was Winn Dixie , Resteraunts were Alfredo's and the REAL Briar Patch,McDonald's, Pizza Farm etc. Kids still said the pledge, said prayer and got a paddling for disruption in school.

I may be nostalgic and pesimistic but I sometimes think that what we had was a whole lot better . Sometimes it's nice to be Country and out in the "Boon Docks"!!!

I sure do remember those days! But came out to Dallas from Powder Springs (in the Coach Moore's days). That ride from Powder Spgs to Dallas sure did seem like a long, long ride. Things have changed so much. For those of you new to the area, the road from PS to Dallas was a 2-lane, dark little road. No shopping centers or restaurants for miles and miles... Thanks for the trip down memory lane, loudmouth. Seems like just yesterday...

  6. Just a thought before you replace your old one. We've had one for YEARS that has been played and played. A while back it started acting like it was going to die and my college-age stepson told me to clean it with alcohol - open the lid and swab the little round silver thing (have no idea what it's called) with a q-tip. Worked like a charm for us. Maybe it will work for you, too, and you won't have to buy another one after all! Good luck.

  7. We have a large family and I want to go and have our picture taken. Not nessc. for christmas but just for a updated family pic. PLus this is my daughters 1st christmas and I also want to have her pic taken for christmas.

I had TARGET take them once and they just stood there like I was to pose her and tell them what to do. I would like for someone to give me suggestions on what pose would look best and the backgrounds. I have also had them done at port innovations they were excellent but they do not have any appts till after christmas. I am hoping for the Christmas one of my daughter to give as a present to some of her grandparents HAVE I WAITED TO LONG????? <_<

*she has been very sick lately so thats why i havent got it done b-4*

Garrison's Photography in Douglasville does an AWESOME job. You'll pay a little more, but you will have something you'll treasure! We had a portrait of our son done when he was 5 and one of our daughter for her 1st b'day. They have something set up in Arbor Place (just outside Sears, I think) showcasing their work. Good luck!

  8. Anyone elses comcast menu doing weird things with the color?

I called Comcast today because cable was out. Get this... there were/will be two "eclipses" - the sun passing directly in front of and behind Comcast's satellite. No joke! Maybe that's why yours changed colors! (?)

  9. I only wish I could afford it. I have a friend that has stopped smoking while using it. She said it worked for her - so far she has been quit for five weeks. Other than that I believe its fairly new to the market and insurance doesn't normally pay for it. At $130 for starter kit - who could afford just to try it. GOOD LUCK ON QUITTING!!! GIVE IT YOUR ALL!!!
If you're ever interested in using it, shop around for the starter kit. It's not the same price everywhere (go figure!). Eckerd was about $20 less (approx) than Kroger for the exact same product!
  10. We always go to downtown Dallas and trick or treat on Main ST. Nice people and you get to see alot of different costumes and plus a few houses make "Haunted Houses" out of their front porches!
Okay, I'm new here and may not be replying correctly - probably should have read the directions first! Anyway, I definitely agree about Main Street in Dallas. The great thing about it is that you really get that "small town feel" there. The last few times we've been someone is making cotton candy and giving it out to the kids - lots of fun and not much walking but lots of trick or treating. Have fun!
  11. Don't have any jobs, but wanted to let you know that McEachern UMC in Powder Springs has a food pantry - they will gladly give you a week's worth of groceries...all you have to do is ask for it! Good luck to you and congrats on your new baby!
