  1. I've read some good things about this product, and have thought about getting it for our home. One of our cats is very skittish, even though we have had her since she was quite young. I'd love to find something that would calm her down.

Can you post a picture of your cat? I've always thought Scottish Folds were neat-looking. I wish you well with her! :)

Here is a picture of her..her eyes are so big and gold that when the flash hits them they are illuminated. Her name is "Samba" but we figure with as little human contact as she had she probably doesn't know her name anyway...so we are trying to come up the perfect name for her.

  2. We just adopted a rescue kitty...a beautiful Scottish Fold kitty from Atlanta Persian and Siamese Rescue...She was taken from a breeder in Mass by ASPCA..overcrowding and bad conditions..since being taken she was spayed and vetted and is completely scared..but when I held her today she wasn't mean just scared...I fell in love with her and we brought her home. She has pretty much stayed hidden when I am not holding her, she relaxed a little on my lap after sitting with me about 15 mins, but if I put her down she hides. I did get her to eat and she has a box with a blanket I fixed up for her so she has her privacy but I wanted to try anything to reduce the stress to her and ran across this Comfort Zone Plug In..just wanted to know if anyone has tried it or has any other helpful hints..should I give her space for a while and let her go at her own pace or keep trying to get her to relax a little while I hold her. Any ideas?

  3. I have a chocolate lab that we just have found out has epilepsy after 7 yrs...I thought this was strange but is very common in some of the larger breeds. It is very scary to see a pet or person go through this but there is medication that they can be put on...be very cautious as the vet said that sometimes in the clonic state(dazed and confused) that they could accidently hurt someone. My dog scared me the first time he ever had a seizure....he didn't know who I was and acted very strange towards me and this was heartbreaking because he is with me in the house, sleeps next to me, etc. We just have put him on Phenobarbital, so far no more seizures. I wish you good luck!

  4. Update***Our girl came home!! After 4 days. she was a little skinny and scared but she is okay. Thanks to anyone who was keeping an eye out for her. I believe she must have gotten a good jolt from the electric fence that she must have gotten tangled in because the wire was broken. She certainly isn't getting near the fence now. We are so relieved.

  5. Our female Great Pyrenees has gone missing. She climbed our electric fence and has been gone 2 days now...she has climbed out before but always comes back. She belongs to a very heartbroken little girl and our male Pyr is not to happy either. I did call the shelter with no luck but I will keep trying hoping someone turns her in. We are in the 278/Buchanan Hwy. area...please please if anyone sees her please let me know or take her to the shelter.

  6. I am a CASA...I am fairly new and just got my second case. I work in the lunchroom at an elementary school, work ASP, have a husband and 4 kids of my own. When you work with children you sometimes get to know some of the unfortunate ones in these kinds of cases that CASAs handle and I decided that maybe I could make a difference. I did my training this past Feb-Mar. My first case was kind of difficult and I wasn't sure I could do it, but I kept at it. Tonight I had a conversation with a very upset relative... he told me that he was so very happy that someone like me was on this case. I realized at that moment that I really can make a difference to these families and these children. It doesn't take a whole lot of time on your part... its the caring that you put into the time that counts. I would sit in on one of the training classes and get a feel for what is involved in being a CASA..if you decide it its not for you there is no obligation and it only took a couple of hours of your time.

  7. I work at Mcgarity and we are all in shock, just earlier this week he was playing outside in the water for beach day and loving it. He truly was a special little boy and we in the lunchroom were all amazed by the happiness this little boy always showed, it breaks my heart for his family.

  8. I don't know of anyone who has them right now, but we have 2 Great Pyrenees that live in my herd, they are wonderful with the animals as they were bred as livestock guardians...although they are barkers of course to ward off any trespassing animals, I couldn't ask for better.

  9. Okay I know the chances are slim to none but... I wanted to know if anyone here has or knows of anyone who has some sheep shears they want to sell for a reasonable price. It is getting hot and I need to shear my sheep but the brand new shears cost a few hundred $$..Anyone?

  10. We just adopted a 5 yr old dog from Cobb County Animal Shelter a couple of months ago...I too was anxious about adopting an older dog due to the fact I have young children...but he is the best dog we have ever had..he was already obedience trained, housebroken and I trust him fully with my children.. He stays in the house even when we are at work and never bothers anything...the best part, no chewing everthing in the house....so adopting an older dog isn't always a bad thing.

  11. They can be very sweet loving animals when given lots of attention and care but as babies they take ALOT of care, but it is so worth when you have one that is grown and follows you around just like a little dog would....so I am getting ready to take a trip to the shelter. He would have plenty of company raised in my brooder with baby chickens until he is old enough to be in the water.

  12. yes, it was dyed green.... as I understand it, when he molts & his feathers come in, the dye will go away... I hope?

Do you know if the duckling is up for adoption?

I have them as pets and it just burns me up to see them bought for children for Easter, this one is lucky someone turned him in to the shelter...most just die. Parents don't realize that these are messy little critters as babies and very fragile. I have raised ducks from just a few days old and it is not an easy task.

  13. My father-in-law owns B&C Millwork between Dallas and Rockmart. Alot of times they have windows come back that someone ordered in the wrong size, you might get lucky and one of those might be the size you need, they are usually cheaper.

  14. We, my neighbors and I, have experienced these sad days. We had an animal control officer out her just the other night catching feral kittens, momma got away, and a very skinny sick cat...all this after I helped another woman remove a deceased cat from her front yard just Monday morning, possibly was sick as well. I have taken in so many feral kittens and have hand raised most, turned them into loving trusting pets and need to find them homes. I hate to bring them into the shelter because of the overcrowding problem. So I have a house full at the moment. I think a catch, spay and release day would be a wonderful thing as we seem to have become the dump sight for unwanted cats, but all the neighbors take out their scraps to keep these poor animals from starving. It just never seems to end.
