  1. Ya, this person is a total phony and should be called "ULTRA LIBERAL". Their language about jobs gives them away.

"With NO MENTION whatsoever of how that candidate proposes to bring jobs to the unemployed or under employed citizens of this county".

No conservative would talk like that because we know that the government doesn't "bring jobs" to the unemployed. A total plant trying to lend "Conservative" credentials to Todd Pownall to make up for all the liberal democrats supporting his campaign.

I think I am catching on to your M O, If a poster does bot adhere to your narrow scope of being a conservative then they are a liberal not worthy of posting ones position from a conservative point of view GOTCHA.... I moved here a few years back ,I attend some of the republican party meetings,And we have even had some conservations about our party, And we do not always agree. But you are no more conservative than I, And you hurt the image of the perty by ranting and raving about fellow conservative Republicans in an attempt to promote your own little narrow agenda of returning some of the previous office holders to power, You and Chris have became a disgrace to the Republican Party of Paulding County,And I shall do all within my power to prevent both of you from serving in any official capacity within the party, Enough said good night

  2. This election has really been one that has been ran in a very odd and different way than most elections. Most of the candidates have attended every function that has been made available to them in an effort to get their message out, and, others have relied on this media and other media such as Signs Websites, Press Releases, Etc.

Some of the candidates have met face to face in round table discussions, and, some have refused to discuss the issues of their campaign and have chosen the brown bag approach, Issuing general statements in those releases which have now been found to contain a lot of erroneous information.

This week a certain campaign has now resorted to Bashing an elected official for endorsing another candidate, Which I find rather amusing, Since the person that made the you tube and had it posted on this web site was being supported and endorsed by two gentlemen who have access to two other web sites, And are also officials in the Paulding County Republican party, And I can only assume that they were duly elected to the positions?

A few days ago I started a thread of what I thought was the most pressing issues facing Paulding County Jobs, without jobs, we are doomed.

Today another brown bag flyer was hung on the mail boxes of certain citizens, throughout the county, With NO MENTION whatsoever of how that candidate proposes to bring jobs to the unemployed or under employed citizens of this county, But rather dwelled on Something that neither of the candidates running for this office have a vote on since neither will take office until January 2011 WTH!!!!

This is a tactic used by the candidates that do not want to discuss the real issues, but rather a diversion, from the issues.

Having said all that here is what the Paulding County Commission has to say about the first brown bag before the primary election on July 20, 2010 As stated in the Dallas New Era on page 9 of the August 5,2010 edition

Tuesday August 10, 2010 is the last chance to vote in this race, and your chance to decide who is the most honest and qualified person for this post, it is your decision, I have made mine and it is Todd Pownall

  3. When I moved to this county a few years ago it became apparent to me that the leaders of this county were very short sighted in providing jobs and resources needed to entice companies to locate here.

Over the past several months I have listened to and talked with all of the candidates running for the county commission post, And have come to the conclusion that only a couple of the candidates really know, And, Have a plan to get this county out of the mess that we are in. I have lurked here on Paulding.com and read and listened to all of the rhetoric spewed out by the various candidates and surrogates of each campaign. And only two of those candidates have talked about the real issues of this County, Which is Jobs.

Only two candidates have talked about ways and means to bring those jobs to Paulding County, for that reason I will be supporting and voting for David Barnett for commissioner in post # 4 where I live.

I have also contributed to the Todd Pownall campaign since he is the other candidate that really understands the issues facing our County, and, have a plan to provide the needed jobs.

  4. Jerry's TV add saying David is a developer is still running tonight. He's still saying David developed 1000 lots and wanted a $13,000,000 sewer line. Seems like Jerry would have gotten the message by now that a large number of voters just do not believe this attack. And most of the others are tired of hearing it.

I would not be to concerned with the ad, It is not beliveable, Turn out of the voters is the key to this election, Hey Jerry Shearin's record is very visible on the web site posted here, I cannot believe he is not already serving time for some of the things he has done

  5. Been doing a lot of studying the past few nights, and I am amazed, That Paulding County has no means to collect fees for the developments, going in here.

Attached is the list of Impact fee's from Pasco County Florida,( Dade City) where I moved from, I just cannot believe, that there is no impact fee in Georgia?

Where can I get me one of the Vote NO signs?????

  6. Unable to attend thCCAG meeting.

Here are the notes that my friend passed along to me. Thought you all might find it interesting.

Last night there were at least 200+/- people attending this meeting.

Below is the Agenda that the Committee went by.

    1. Welcome

    2. Pledge of Allegiance (provided by local Boy Scouts)

    3. Invocation

    4. General Business/Information

    5. New Business

    6. DOT - Scott Green

    7. School Bond

Meeting started with letting everyone know about how they started their CCAG Committee with 30 people at their 1st action group meeting in October and how they now have 60 prospective members as of this evening.

The Meeting had guest speakers from the local Cedarcrest community along with speakers from the DOT, BOE & PC Voter Registrar.

Subjects that were brought up are as follows:

There is a new Community Committee that is forming. This group will be called Cross Roads Business Association. The purpose is to show us how to keep our money in Paulding County by helping Small and Large Businesses to become established.

The committee is in need of members to head up the following:

    1. Business Committee

    2. Education Committee

    3. Hospitality Committee - Helping to get Businesses going.

    4. Membership committee.

A developer spoke about the purchase of land at the intersection of Harmony Grove Church & Cedarcrest. They are planning to make it an Office/Retail Park. It is a 22 1/2 acre site. This is a 5 yr. plan.

Then the CCAG Chairperson spoke about the continued growth and the positive things going on in PC. One example is about the area north of the McDonalds on 92 at the crossroads. This was zoned originally for duplexes and now it is rezoned for Business Highway Front.

***Next: The Chairperson spoke and said that this was a "Private Rental" meeting and that it was illegal to record unless you had permission from her.*** She also stated that this was NOT A GOVERNMENT SPONSORED MEETING.

Next, the Chairperson introduced Scott Green with the DOT, who spoke on projects going on in the county. He spoke for quite awhile and answered questions. After Scott, then it was time for the School Bond presentation.

Before introducing Trudy Sowar, the Chairperson discussed how the Vote failed by 900 votes. She said that since then, there have been over 600 emails and signatures that went to the BOE saying they didn't know about the vote and would like it to be presented again. So since the YES people stood up, then the BOE re-voted to bring the bond back up for another vote.

Please Note: There were times that it was very difficult to hear in this meeting.

    1. First Trudy stated that Senior Citizens would not be affected by this Bond Referendum, as they would think. She said that Sr.'s 65 and over who are 65 by January 1 will pay 1/2 of their school taxes. But they must file this information by January 1. Then 70 yrs and older will pay NO School TAX. But 70 yrs and older must file by April. She didn't elaborate on what the Sr.'s need to file, but I guess Senior Citizen’s may know what this means.

    2. Trudy went through the Power Point Presentation that is on the BOE website. Especially to point out how our M&O taxes are lower than several surrounding counties.

    3. In the meeting, Trudy spoke about citizen’s wanting to know why we aren't building "UP". She did mention that EPHS will be the 1st school to be built up, when this does happen.

    4. One person said they were not happy about double sessions and wanted to know what other options there would be if this bond did not pass. Trudy said Year Round School was another option. People wanted to know how this would Help???, but the Chairperson made the meeting continue on. Trudy did NOT state that there would not be double sessions, even if we do pass this referendum.

    5. Trudy said that the money received so far from the builders was originally going to be used for the replacement of tennis courts, but now it will be used towards Bus Drivers Training Center. Trudy mentioned that Pupil Transportation is one of the Largest Expenditures for the BOE. PC spends 10.7 million to transport and only receives 1.8 million from the state.

    6. Someone asked about impact fees (in general). All Jerry Shearin KEPT saying was that "IMPACT FEES ARE ILLEGAL FOR EDUCATION IN THE STATE OF GEORGIA". Jerry S. also stated that our County does not need Impact Fees. "That we (PC) are in the "Best" Financial place possible for now". He also mentioned that he has had Colleagues (if this is correct) from other County BOC's tell him that he needs to stay out of the BOE and to keep BOC and BOE separate. But he said that he just couldn't stay away, because he felt it was too important. He also mentioned that his wife is a teacher.

    7. A man asked why isn't the BOC trying to "SLOW" down the growth in PC, so that the schools could catch up? It was mentioned that the BOC has studied "Growth Ordinance" and Jerry S. stated that PC has the Lowest # of Building Permits in Metro Atlanta. The person asked again about monitoring the permits by slowing them down. Jerry's response was - "What is the Magic #? And what area do you slow down? Then Jerry asked the people where did they think that the majority of the growth was in PC? They stated Cedarcrest, 7 Hills area. Jerry said, "No, it isn't. That this area was actually one of the smaller percentages of growth."

    8. One lady asked Trudy "Where did the $500 amount come from?" regarding the Builders Donations. Trudy didn't know and referred to Jerry S. But all that they both said was "that it was just a number that was thrown out there". Then they quickly moved onto something else.

    9. Then the BOE left the building while the CCAG Chairperson continued on with the meeting.

    CCAG Agenda –

    · Get Involved

    · Invest in your children

    · Protect ASP

    · Protect the Family Lifestyles

    10. CCAG Chairperson stated how costs to build schools used to be $64/sq. foot and now they are at $110/sq. foot.

    11. CCAG Chairperson spoke about how money will be coming into this county, but it will take time. She mentioned how Pilots from our new airport will be paying to park their planes and that this will bring in more money to assist the schools. (That may a little off. It was hard to hear her.)

    12. CCAG Chairperson bragged about how in 2003 Paulding County had the highest SAT scores in the state (I think that she said state, it was hard to hear at times).

    13. CCAG Chairperson spoke about how our schools are so overcrowded and cannot handle an emergency if there ever was one.

    14. CCAG Chairperson spoke about how 90 homes are on the market in Bentwater. She said that homes are not selling. She said that she has a friend who has tried to sell for 11 mos.

    15. "Protect your Home Value and Protect ASP."

    16. "See website www.supportpauldingschools.com This group needs partners on this committee."

    17. "People need to commit to Vote Yes & to tell 10 other people to Vote Yes."

    18. "Mailers will be going out to all Seniors in the community

    19. The Deputy Chief Voter Registration person spoke about Voter Registration and Voting Early and Voting Absenteeism. She never said how to vote, she just gave out information about voting. She stated that you can register to vote up until Feb. 20th, in order to vote on the March Ballot.

    20. Then CCAG Chairperson spoke about her BIG SIGN Committee. She asked for donations and also stated that if anyone wanted a yard sign to email her at cedarcrestaction@aol.com

    21. She stated that the cost of increase in our taxes will be just the cost of a soda per day.

    22. She reminded everyone that Builders are donating to the Community in several ways. That one builder recently donated Sod to go behind Shelton.

    23. Then before the meeting adjourned, CCAG Chairperson stated that anyone that need to speak to Trudy and other members of the BOE could step outside the building and ask them questions.

    24. Meeting Adjourned.

Is there a meeting like this planned at all of the schools? If not how about South Paulding High

  7. no offence but how do yall know that this new p.commer is even real?

oh and if you are real this site is not the place to be looking for REAL info... I cant tell you where you would even find real info. But i can honestly say this is not the place....

Well I am real,And if this site is not where you get real INFORMATION, Please Link me to the sites that has the real information.

I agree that their are a lot of different opinions on here, I have looked at Paulding.Gov, and used those links, and according to some information on web sites, we have the Lowest tax rate, of the Metropolitan Atlanta Area.

    All I want is information.

  8. Whoa, What have I gotten myself into?

I have spent the better part of today reading the Forums, and some things seems to be missing as I read them.

First not one of the posters have identified themselves as a Elected Official,Are any on here?

Secondly I am amazed at what I have been reading, only $92,000 "donated" to the school system from the Developers.

PLEASE PLEASE tell me that I am not going to be required to pay for all the infrastructure needs of this growing Community through Higher Property Taxes?

Where I came from the developers were required to pay a impact fee, to build, schools, roads, firestations, sewer, water and many other things.

Surely, the home owners are not going to be required to pay for all this?

I am very upset with the fact that my first weekend in my new home, that I am being required to do research, on a tax increase, Where are the Elected Officials on this web site?Whom am I to believe, among the hundreds of posters. HELP!!!!!!

  9. From some of the comments that I have read in this forum,It appears to me that I have just moved into a State that is a Tax and Spend State, and that does not set well with me, I expect my taxes to be within reason, and to be stable, and not to Increase every year.

I looked at the Board of Education Web site, and it does not tell me what This bond issue is going to be spent for, Is there some place that I can go and see what schools are going to be built with this Money?

  10. Welcome to the greatest place south of the Mason/Dixon! You will love it here. This is a tax to build new schools. We have a severs overcrowding issue and may have to go to double sessions. The reason is because our county commissioners have allowed irresponsible and excessive growth which has overwhelmed the county infrastructure. The BoC does not seem to have any intentions of correcting this and so most of the county believes that the new tax will NOT correct the school overcrowding issue. At best it will be an expensive band-aide. I say that as a mother with children attending overcrowded schools and as a Board of Education employee. NO NEW TAXES! We have had it. We already voted no once. They didn't like our answer so they are bringing it to us again while threatening the parents of the county with double sessions and more trailers for classrooms. I am convinced that mobile classrooms and double sessions will not kill my children. They are made of heartier stuff than that, and so are the other great children of Paulding. That would be my opinion and I just love to share it! Hope you grow to love Paulding, warts and all, as much as I do.

Will you explain what you mean by severe overcrowding, the real estate agent took me by the South Paulding High School and it looked almost new, and did not seem to be overcrowded?

  11. I have been reading the post that Came up under the search of School Bond.

I have some questions was this the same bond that was voted down Last September?

Why does the tax payer have to build the new schools, where I came from our County had a impact fee, that they used to build Roads, schools Firestations etc.

What is a SPLOST tax? What is it used for? Is this the same in Georgia as a Impact fee?

Will they be any public meetings held on this ?

Where can I go for more information?
