Kudos to our Paulding County Fire Department. My neighbors' home was up in smoke at approximately 10am this morning (9/8/05). As I was leaving my home this morning for a business appointment and got closer to the stop sign at the end of my road, I'm certain that I was the first to call 9-1-1 to report that a house was fully engulfed with flames showing through the roof. Within just minutes, the first truck arrived from the Pine Valley Road station and immediately started to respond. They were prepared and ready. My first concern was that only one pumper with 2 firefighters could not possibly handle this situation. It was obvious this was at least a 2 alarm fire. As I picked up my cell phone to call 9-1-1 again, I heard another siren coming to assist. Another truck and a Chief's car was following right behind. I knew then that these Firefighters had it all under control.
The home has definite damage, but due to the fast response and professionalism of our Fire Department, the extent of the fire was contained and the Paulding County Fire Department is to be commended for their efforts.
My thoughts and prayers go out to our neighbors in this time of need.
