  1. This was a friend of mine... She about had a heart attack when she couldn't find her. After about 45 min, they sent her upstairs to lie down because she was about to pass out...and when she leaned on the bed, the little girl woke up... she had been hiding behind the pillows on her parent's bed and fell asleep.

I dread this happening to me any day now because my little one is big into the whole hide-n-seek thing and she's getting really good at it.

  2. Add me to the list!

I'm Rebecca, a 32 year old work at home mom of three.. Madeline (10), Zillah (my daughter - 2), and Nollaig (my son - 8 months)..otherwise known as Cuckoo, Z, and Iggy. I'm in the powder springs part of paulding.. right off Brownsville and 92. Some of you are practically neighbors!

I'm one of those 'artsy-fartsy' types.. always crafting something.. sewing, painting, knitting... something. I'm on and off trying to get my art degree, and plan on becoming an elementary school art teacher. I'm married to a high school teacher, so it will be nice to have the summers off together.. but this is for years from now, when all the wee ones are in school.

ANYWAY!! enough about me.. I'm looking forward to meeting you all.. you sound like a fun bunch! I'm also happy to hear that some of you have older ones and babies... like us! LOL!

Welcome Rebecca! My name's Rebecca and I have one that just turned 11 and a 2 year old daughter we almost named Madeline - LOL! :p

  3. The thing I remember about this place is the thing with the the covered bridge. You were supposed to stop in the middle of the bridge, turn your engine and lights off and count. Not sure what you were supposed to count to, but we never made it more than a few seconds. It was so dark and we'd hear the creaking from the bridge and totally freak out. :o I think the story was something like if you do that and count to a certain number, the witch was supposed to appear. Anybody else do that? or even hear of it?

  4. Yeah, I'd hoped to get down there while SS was there, but... with the holiday and all, the weekend was pretty busy around our house and Alex and I just aren't going to make it down there this week. But, I think it does sound fun and if we can all go as a group sometime that would be even better!

If we don't go 'til later in the year that's perfectly fine with me. It may actually be better if we wait. It's gonna start getting alot cooler before too long and I'm guessing we'll all be looking for some stuff to do that's indoors.

  5. Since Clinton Park is already on the calendar, and I guess we want to avoid Fridays (cause it's probably more crowded) it looks like we're gonna have to post-pone our Children's Museum trip a little. The Sesame Street thing will be over but it looks like they're always having some kind of special event going on.

Lisa - know of any empty spots on the September calendar that this would fit into? It looks like we have enough people going that we can get the discounted rate. Just a matter of finding the perfect day.

  6. Hello everyone! My name is Rebecca (I'll be turning 29 for the 2nd time this year) and I'm sorta kinda a SAHM 'cause I work full time at night 9pm-7:30am four days a week and keep my toddler during the day. Yeah, if ya do the math that means I get to sleep for however long she decides to nap each day. But it's all worth it to be able to spend my days with my little princess. Her name is Alex. She turned two in May and I have an 11 year old step-son that goes to McClure. We live off of Cedarcrest.

I can't wait to meet some of you and find out what you all have found to do around here with all these kids. Mine's got way too much energy these days to stay cooped up inside.

  7. Depending on the details of this I may have been involved in an identical accident a few years ago. Ended up going to court and fighting the officer's decision on who should be cited. I won, had the citation removed, and the other party had to pay to fix my car.

I'm very curious to know more details on this. Like - How many lanes were on this road? If more than single, what lane(s) were they in? Were they at an intersection? Was there a turning lane? Details please!

  8. I got the feeling from the deputy that the last thing on earth he wanted to be doing was dealing with what he called my "civil problem". I told him that "Willie" claimed that I had told him that I would have everything out by the 23rd. I also told him about making the arrangements last week to pay the rest of June's rent. His response was, "Well, if we talk to him, he will just say that you had a verbal agreement to be out by the 23rd."

But nooooooo...... leases always specifically state that "verbal agreements" are not valid and that "everything" has to be in writing. Take a look at your contract. It's always there. He had nothing in writing saying that you would be moving out by the 23rd.

  9. Happy Camper,

(Sorry this is so long but I had to tell ya the whole story)

I can feel your pain. I had a similar experience with an apartment complex in Kennesaw. We had been living there while house hunting and when we knew the date of our closing I went to them to see what my options were for breaking our lease. They weren't at all willing to work with us and we came to the realization that we'd just have to bite the bullet and occupy/pay for the apt an additional two months. We did this and let the complex know that if they were able to find someone who wanted to lease our unit before our lease was up, we would be willing to move out early if we did not have to pay the remainder of the lease. They agreed to let us know if that was the case, but we never heard from them. We moved most of our belongings to the new house but left a few things there and hung out there occasionaly as it was on our route home from work. Aproximately a week or so before our lease was to end I came by and did a good cleaning of the place and took a few more things to the house. I came back by the next day to load the car with the rest of our belongings and was stunned to see that the place was cleared out. I mean, completely... all of my stuff was gone... even the cleaning supplies I had left laying around in case I needed them again. I was furious and went straight to the complex office as just knew that it was their doing. When I inquired about my stuff and why someone had entered my apt without my consent (in our lease it clearly states that not even maintenance can enter without our consent unless a note is left with the details as to why they were there and why they could not notify us ahead of time). No note was left. They said that they had stored all of my stuff away in case I returned for it. And that they had thought that we had moved out because... get this... "one of our neighbors had thought that they had seen us carrying stuff to our car". I asked that my stuff be brought to me immediatley. They brought out a box of stuff and said that was all they took. It was probably about a 5th of what was missing. I lost it at that point and completely let them have a piece of my mind. They apologised for the situation and, as most of the items that they took and were missing were from the kitchen, they offered me a $50 giftcard to Target. That just infuriated me more. I couldn't have replaced a fraction of my stuff with that, and the fact that they proposed that my stuff was no better that what could be bought at Target made me lose my cool. I told them that they had made a BIIIG mistake and that I was on my way to file criminal charges against them. Of course, I slammed the door as hard as I could on my way out. Now I tell you all that and you are probably anxious to know how the police responded.... Well, I headed to the house with the intention of going to the police station the next day (I wanted to read over our lease contract so that I would be well informed on what my rights were) but before I got a chance to go the next morning... I found out that I was pregnant... when I had been told that I would not be able to ever have children. My world was changed so much from that moment on that I never even did a thing about the whole apt situation. I often smile when I think about those two women coming in each day wondering if that would be the day they would hear from my attorney. Almost makes it okay... :D
