  1. China kept girls in a fenced in factory where 20,000 work and live. Guard towers are positioned at the fence. They are put in 10'X10' rooms with bunk beds.enough for twelve girls in each room.

Romney went there in his private equity days to see about buying the factory.

Buddy, you didn't tell the whole story on this one. But keep up the good work.

  2. I just got back from the courthouse and there are some folks who are saying no to a tax increase.

When I think that each of the county's employees gave up, probably on average close to a $1,000 in paid holiday pay this year ... I find the couple of hundred dollars in additional taxes to balance the county's budget that I'll pay - yes my assessment actually went up so I'll be paying more - a fair contribution to the community.

Oh well, since labor day is now an unpaid holiday for county workers, I'd almost suggest a pot luck at one of the county parks would be a great way to show our appreciation for the county employee's personal contribution to the community.

Not a bad idea. If you can get it worked out let us know what we can do to help.

  4. Two Choices

What would you do?....you make the choice. Don't look for a punch line, there isn't one. Read it anyway. My question is: Would you have made the same choice?

At a fundraising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its

Dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do.

Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:

Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning..'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again....

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the

Plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact...

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!

    Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

BY the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

All were screaming, 'Shay, Shay, Shay, all the Way Shay'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!

    Shay, run to third!'

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

AND NOW A LITTLE FOOT NOTE TO THIS STORY:

We all send thousands of jokes through the e-mail without a second thought, but when it comes to sending messages about life choices, people hesitate.

The crude, vulgar, and often obscene pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion about decency is too often suppressed in our schools and workplaces.

If you're thinking about forwarding this message, chances are that you're probably sorting out the people in your address book who aren't the 'appropriate' ones to receive this type of message Well, the person who sent you this believes that we all can make a difference.

We all have thousands of opportunities every single day to help realize the 'natural order of things.'

So many seemingly trivial interactions between two people present us with a choice:

Do we pass along a little spark of love and humanity or do we pass up those opportunities and leave the world a little bit colder in the process?

A wise man once said every society is judged by how it treats it's least fortunate amongst them.

    You now have two choices:

    1. Delete

    2. Forward

May your day, be a Shay Day

All I can say is thank you for posting this

PCommers! You're invited to the most exciting new car unveiling in Paulding history on Saturday, May 9th at Hardy Chevrolet

I was talking with Jason Benson at Hardy Chevrolet Wednesday and he is giving Pcom the opportunity to do the contest for the first three test drives of the new 2010 Camaro when they unveil this All-New All American classic on May 9th. To get a chance to win, you'll need to post your desire here.

And let me say, you really want to win this opportunity to drive the 2010 Camaro.

Prototypes of this car have already won major magazine comparisons with other pony cars hands down. The SS model - they'll have one display - features over 420 horsepower in a DOHC V-8 that gets 24 MPG on the highway. The V-6, which gets 29MPG on the highway, has over 300 HP and, according to Automobile Magazine, that is only about 10 HP shy of the 2002 Camaro Z28. Add in fully independent suspension, dramatic styling, six-speed automatic or manual transmission, side-airbags, 4-wheel disc brakes, those cat-eye headlights and you have one of the most technologically advanced cars on the market.

The way the contest works is that you need to post in this topic that you want to be the first to test drive the 2010 Camaro. The opportunity to test drive the new Camaro will be decided by raffle drawing.

To add to the excitement, there will be some classic Camaro's from the past on display as well as music and refreshments (See the invite.)

To win you will have to be at least 18 and you'll obviously have to have a drivers license. You will also have to be present to win so plan on being there

We'll be posting more pictures and video as we come up on the unveiling. The 2010 Camaro unveiling really is something special. We're excited about it. Win and you'll have have a story you can tell your grandkids. and if you win you'll be among the first folks to drive this exciting new car. Find out more about the car here.

  6. (1) Hiram Post Office: Woman goes into PO and leaves small child in car seat. She was in PO for about 15 min, comes back out jumps in car like it is an everyday thing.

(2)SPHS: Red Mustang leaves the school with tires spinning and ends up in ditch. Last seen three boys pushing. One boy spinning tires and throwing mud.

(3)Walmart: Woman trying to explain to Police Officer why she is parked in Handicapped space. She was only going to be a minute and there were more empty Handicapped spaces empty.

All of this was today between 2 and 4. I'm going to start taking a camera everywhere I go.

  7. Let me paint a picture for you...

Imagine on a beautiful lake and the sun is setting. There is a person on the

bank fishing standing at the water's edge. He gets a bite and is rather excited

plants his foot to set the hook loses his footing and SPLASH!

Lands a$$ first in the water! :p

That was me earlier this evening!

Yes, I    with a couple of Oh $hit$!

PUBBY had the camera pointed in wrong direction. But it was funny. Can only give you a 4. You didn't have arms tucked.

  8. K, I just can't help myself...

Open the door, pick up cat, put them out, slam door.

Or if you want to be nicer about it....

Open can of tuna, open door, put can of tuna on porch, put cat in front of can of tuna, shut door...

I'm sooo, gonna get slammed on this...but I'm not a cat person. I'm allergic, and can't stand them cause they use their dander against me.

I'm sooo glad that there are cat people to love them...but I just can't.

Best idea I have heard but why waste the tuna

  9. Several times over last year and this year, our home alarm will go off in the middle of night. It always seems to be around the same time 2:40a.m. When we check the keypad it will say "trouble" ... which means a disruption in service (none of the #s will light up that are associated with certain points around the house.) We have called comcast to check the phone lines b/c we have the internet/cable/phone package with them. They have found nothing wrong with it. ADT says there's nothing wrong with the system (they had us set off the system deliberately).

So what gives? It really stinks to wake to such as sound. I'm glad it is nothing ... still ... we just want the issue fixed. Any ideas?

That is why we left ADT. Never their fault always ours.

  10. My daughter goes to South Paulding High and she got up complaining of body aches and running nose and cough. So I took her to see her Dr today. She tested Positive for the FLU.. :bad: YUCK...

Just wanted to see if this is something that is going around still. WoW, Flu in March... :o

    Going around SPMS.

  11. My sister is a junior at South Paulding High School and called me this morning and said some of her friends called her this morning to tell her there was supposed to be a shooting at school today. She didn't know many details, only that her frineds were going back home. My mom did call the school and asked the lady that answered the phone about it. The lady said that they had heard about the threat, and have extra security there today and are screening the students (not quite sure what is meant by that). My mom asked if she knew if there was any truth to it, and the lady said they have to act like there is, but if my mom wanted to pick my sister up she could excercise that right. Just wanted to let other parents know and see if anyone esle has heard this.

What is wrong with kids today? I wonder if it could have anything to do with How the parents raise them? MMMM-I wonder.

  12. Okay so by now many of you know about the drug dogs in McClure middle school yesterday, they found drugs in a 6th GRADERS locker! I hope you are as outraged as I am! The last time something major happened at the school we got a note sent home but the News crew was on site. Guess this is so common these days it doesn't make the news. Still we should get a note sent home I would think explaining what happened does anyone agree here?

For all you parents out there, I want to know what you would do if your 9th grader told you about a kid on the bus who smokes pot every morning. Says his mom doesn't care as long as he only does it on the weekends so he doesn't get caught. Turns out the kid is doing more than smoking pot, he is popping pills also in the morning and all through the day! I have his name and I guess he lives in our neighborhood Senators Ridge. Would you do nothing, call the school, call the school and his parents? Sounds like this kid is hallucinating too as he speaks about wild animals flying over the bus and landing on them. My friend in Woodstock has a son who has already lost 4 friends who never reached their 19 birthdays from Oxycotin overdoses. I am not sure what the pills are that this kids is taking but it wouldn't surprise me if it was that.

    Comments appreciated!

Something has to be done. I think that the school would be a good place to start.

  13. Thanks for all the response on fishing club. Have a few spots left. The 17ac lake is on private property on Nebo Road. Membership is $150.00 per year for family. Family consist of Parents, kids and grand parents.
