  1. A friend if mine just told me a deputy was hurt in a car accident early this morning. (it was on Mt Tabpr at Fray around 5am) I went back and listened to the archives and it sounded pretty bad. They got 911 calls about so the deputy must have been hurt bad enough to not be able to call. I also heard one of the responding officers say it looked like a head-on collision. Another deputy asked rescue to step it up. I then heard lifeflight being called and Clark's said they were en route to the LZ with a deputy on board. This sounds bad. Please pray that he is alright!!!!

  2. Yea because it would make SO much more sense for them to drive their county vehicle home (which is probably further than the restaurant), pick up their personal vehicle, eat, then drive all the way back home, again wasting more gas, pick up their county issued car, then driver back to work, again wasting more gas. That makes complete sense to me... NOT!!!

  3. I feel bad for him. I like Morgan Freeman a lot and he seems to be a good person. I am going to say this at the risk of sounding insensitive but did anyone notice the car he was driving? A 1997 Nissan Maxima. I guess he saves his money.... can't blame him for that but wow........

  4. We stand a better chance of more war, with McShame!

I think we stand a greater chance of going to war with Obama. His diplomacy antics are going to do nothing but get us attacked AGAIN and then we will have no choice but to go to war. Of course that is assuming that he will even retaliate if more Americans die on their own soil.

  5. I know you didn't ask but IMHO Mac is a far superior machine. They are more expensive but it is definitely worth it. Don't let the new platform scare you, it is easy to learn and once you do you will wonder what took you so long to make the switch. Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth. Thanks!

  6.

I guess I should have been more careful how I worded it. They are not 100% immune as no computer even if it has virus protection. It is however so immune that this is a rare occasion. Apple is also constantly updating its system when they do find it be vulnerable. I used to be a PC user and I will NEVER go back. It takes a little getting used to but it is definitely worth it.

  7. A friend of mine says that Hiram is looking to extend the hours. I don't know if that is true but hopefully it is. I also saw a petition in Cafe Wing Max in Hiram to extend the hours and I signed it! Also, Hiram can extend their pouring hours if they want, they don't have to wait on the county. People should be talking to the city council and Mayor about that. I called the Mayor's office and gave my opinion.

  8. Much as I agree with the need for change, I do feel the need to comment on this item. Cobb County has a tax base that is so far above and beyond that of Paulding. Paulding County simply does not have the same kind of money coming in. Plus, PCSO has take home cars. Only specialized units do in Cobb. And I won't even begin to get into the difference in the work. I'm not saying PCSO deputies don't need an increase in pay ... just saying that folks shouldn't be looking to Cobb for $ numbers.

You are right however, look how many officers Cobb PD and SO have compared to how many PCSO has and they still pay them quite a bit more. I am not saying that PCSO should pay the deputies that much but they should at least be closer.

  9. I'm going to give my opinion on what the good 'ol boy system is. You guys can take it for what it is worth.

The good 'ol boy system is a system that works based on not what you know but who you know. I think it is really as simple as that.

I have only lived in Paulding County for a few years but I see some big time problems with how the Sheriff's Office works. Why is it that for the last three or four years (I can't remember which) Paulding county has been inthe TOP 10 fastest growing counties in the nation and yet the starting pay for our deputies is a JOKE? It has to be because whoever is in charge isn't stepping up and getting them the pay they deserve. (FYI the starting pay for Cobb county is almost $7 more an hour) Why is it that our deputies can't work ALL their accidents? I know that people say it is a man power problem. Has anyone seen how many accidents the Hiram Police department works? I know it is not as many as PCSO but it is pretty close and PCSO has about four times as many deputies on the road at any given time. Yes, I know PCSO works some of their accidents but I listen to the scanner regularly and there are still some citizens that wait thirty to forty five minutes for GSP when they have a perfectly capable deptuty sitting right there. Does it make sense for a trained peace officer to be out of service for forty five minutes when they could possibly be done in twenty to twenty five? I really don't see how it is justified.

There is only one canidate that says he will not change anything. It is obvious that all of the other canidates see the need for chage. Why is that?

I do not think that just because someone is a part of the "good 'ol boy system" that it automatically makes them unqualified. I have read everyone's website and they all seem very qualified. I have also spoken with what seems to be the "big hitters" and they are definitly qualified. I think at this point the election is about CHANGE, not qualifications.

  10. The only reason cops get a bad wrap is the media only runs the negative stories. I see cops every day going above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done. That doesn't make the news because it is not good media. Unless you have been in a cops shoes and had shots come down range at you, don't pass judgement. Sure, there are some bad cops out there and they are the only ones that make it into the media. There are corrupt people in every career field it is just cops are in the public eye.
