  1. Hope that helps. Feel free to pm if you like or just post away!

This is very hard to admit....but.....I AGREE with you!!! My husband and his family say they are black, not black americans or african americans, but black. My husband is from South Georgia, not Africa, and his ancestors that came from Africa have not been able to be completely traced yet.

thank god we agree on some-thing....i can at last rest ....nothing more to say...lol.....amen

  2. Ok, this is a slight sidetrack to the main issue but it's something maybe then that a mixed race family can answer since I assume from previous posts there must be numerous ones on here...

How come when a black man has a child with a white woman, the child is usually called "African American", yet when a black woman has a child with a white man, the child is called "mixed race"? I hear this over and over down here, and don't know if it's a "southern thing" or not among the black and white groups, but when I brought it up at work one day, my coworkers agreed with me... if the father is black, the child is called black, but if the mother is black, the child is called "mixed" or "biracial".

I remember a few years ago when golfer Tiger Woods was just starting out big, over and over again the media would refer to him as "African American" until finally one day he just said right into a camera, "I am NOT African American - my father is black and my mother is from Thailand. I am mixed race". A few black leaders and folks seemed to get really ticked off at him for saying that too, but it was swept under the rug shortly after and his race really hasn't been an issue since then (he has gone on to marry a white woman but no controversy seemed to stem from that with the media). Even so, many people to this day refer to him as African American since his father was black.

So I'm just asking because this has always baffled me, not to be controversial or taking over the thread with another topic. Maybe someone here though can answer why it makes a difference in someone's "racial label" if a father is one color, but it is different if only the mother is that same color (??)

THIS IS a good comment ,post reply...

i do agree.....i say...if they are not born or from Africa they are not African american,,,they are Black American...just like the native indians are red Americans..if they or there parents,,,not grandparents,,,are from Africa,,thats fair enough..i accept that...otherwise its just a bandwagon to jump on..and yes i am white....but we are all part of the human race...whatever color our skin..

  3. Thanks for bumping it back to the top! I really appreciate it. Just because you don't like it, agree with it, aren't interested in it doesn't mean others aren't. Hmmm..where are all of your posts that everyone is so interested in?

BTW, it fills my boots quite well and I will continue to educate and inform as much as I like. If you can post about lights on top of your truck, in my opinion a tacky redneck thing to do, then I can go on and on and on.

    Have a good day!

(Said with much sarcasm for those of you who don't know me)

what are you on about"truck lights"?????? think you got me mixed with somebody..

i do not mind what you post ..but...to post one after the other ...just to prove a point..is a bit much, don't you think..remember you posted that you was going too post as many topics as you can just to take up the top ten spots on the board....everyone knows you are a mixed race family...who cares...so what ...good for you...just don't keep going on about it...we get the picture...

  4. WELL it looks like people are not interested in these kinda posts.....you keep posting the same old topics...trying to push them on up there...there are better things to talk about...we see this everyday....do not need reminding of it...i am not against mix race relationships...each to there own, whateva fills your boots, but i do not like it...but if you must do it ,just do not go on about it...there is better things to talk about ..

  5. Not interested.....why do you keep posting, this issue??? is it just to keep keep your opinions in the top ten post...in our face...we all know how you feel...so fare enough thats your decision ,,,you picked to go that path...dont keep pushing it in our faces...

  6. Hey all, wanted to give you a heads up.

My family and I went to O Charleys in hiram for dinner tonight.

It took us 30 minutes just to recieve our drinks, our salad was ceasar and it was dried no dressing and they had 2-4 croutons. Our waitress placed them on the table and walked away. Almost made a mess.

We ordered prime rib 10oz and shrimp scampi with angel hair pasta. The shrimp was kinda warm to the touch, the prime rib was a 16OZ dried as could be no au jus (SP) the pasta was terrible. to much onion taste and about 8oz of tomatoes and green pepper chunks in it. Waitress kept pn grabbing items from our table and we werent even done didnt even ask.

Table near us, seated after us more people at table they finished before us and had dessert and paid bill, with another party at the table before we even left.

Watch out for a waitress named Sonya (red headed)........... NOT GOOD
