  1. Harsh allegations for a person that can remain anonymous. Looks more like a last ditch effort to put a little doubt in the voters mind. If all this were true it would seem as if you would have stepped up long ago.

I am still voting for Mr. Donovan. Drew Lane is not trustworthy by association in my opinion. Too many buddies like Sonny for me to vote for him.

I just recently became familiar with P.com. And as for me being an anonymous user, I didn't see anywhere for my name and address, however, I put my phone number and email in the option fields (are we all not anonymous here???). If I knew about P.com before now, I would have shared my information long ago. But actually I never expected, in a million years, Dick Donavon would have made it this far!!!!!

As far as sagacity manufacturing a story, it definitely wasn't manufactured. I would be happy to share my 4-year experience with anyone, anytime. However, it would take a long, long time (it was an education you can't get in any college).

If I might add, folks this is a huge mistake to vote for a career defense attorney to be our DA. I can attack his credibility because of my personal experience of the ridiculous way he conducted himself at my mediation but lets approach this with common sense. What puts his credibility into question is how many times he has put his name, in how many different hats. He even changed his political party when he ran for Sheriff, more than 1 attempt to be the Judge, more than 1 or 2 attempts for DA, it appears the man needs a job, a steady paycheck and/or a retirement from the state. He’ll cater to the influential to get his job, and then he has 10 years to vest in the DA's state retirement. He'll do a good job for a good ol boy' then they'll support him, contribute to the campaign, then he’s a good ol boy' and then re-elected. Remember he bashed Drew for being a good ol boy', all the while, he tried to be a good ol boy' and get appointed Judge by the governor, in my mediation.

The Bottom line, the citizens will suffer for a minimum of 48 months if he is elected. DD is not a prosecutor, DD is not known as a trial lawyer, even in the defense world, he has no experience in a courtroom. Having a career defense attorney for DA is like oil and water, they don't mix. DD for DA is definitely not the right choice!

Never the less, if he doesn't get elected Tuesday, how would you like to be the criminal that he's representing Wed. Aug. 9th, knowing that his political platform for DA was ‘Criminals Worst Nightmare’ Happy Voting!!!!

  2. This alone churns my stomach, and a good tie-breaker if you will in who I will be voting for.

    Good one Eddie! ;)

I have never seen either of them prosecute a case. I read where people have, well, then you are one-up on me.

I have been a witness in a murder trial and the Paulding County DA appointed at that time educated me as to what I do not want in a DA. It seems he will be the defense attorney in the Michael Ledford trial.

I don't know either of them personally, but I cannot stand mudslinging and that seems to be the basis for Drew Lane's campaign. :(

I've read about both and believe that Dick Donovan would be our best choice.

  3. Can either you or Supernanna state a positive reason to support Mr. Lane? Rather than criticize Mr. Donovan, please share with us what Mr. Lane has accomplished during his tenure as Paulding County DA?

Have either of you ever had a case heard buy the DA's office during Drew's term? Can you state the experience of anyone who has? If you cannot state results and experiences, what credibility have you got in your selection of DA?

    Inform me.

In response and on behalf of my friend Supernanna.

While reading this forum I can sense that it is a forum where if you are Anti Drew Lane - you vote Dick Donovan, Anti Dick Donovan - you vote Drew Lane type of forum. In my opinion, it's a shame we can't have Jeff Ballew or Bill Clark instead, the only 2 candidates qualified for the job to be in the run off.

If you were to evaluate Lane's performance in the courtroom take into consideration that he is a career prosecutor. His entire career is based on prosecuting criminals. When he was appointed into office there were backlogs of cases (as is most courtrooms). Remember, the county is growing by leaps and bounds and so are caseloads. Drew stepped up trying to do a job with what he had to work with. I understand at the DA's office there was quiet a turnover when Osborne left. Quiet a few key people left also. That didn't help Drew any with the backlog of cases, so now you have more issues that the DA has to deal with. Give the man a chance to prove himself. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Defense attorneys repeatedly put off cases. This is a contributing factor to the case backlogs. Attorneys seem to procrastinate as long as possible for whatever reason, most likely to justify the large retainer fees they obtain. The defense attorney can't justify his 5 or 10 thousand dollar retainer if the case was quickly resolved. Prosecutors don't get any extra for anything. Why would they deliberately want to put off a case? Regardless of when they prosecute a case, there are no pockets to line or extra incentives for them to delay a case. Backlogs are results of volume and growth, not necessarily of the DA’s inabilities. A reasonable time for a case to be heard or placed on the calendar could easily be 2 or more years. There are some cases as old as 5 years, not necessarily in Paulding County. We are not the only ones with a backlog.

As far as Drew Lane's appearance in the courtroom, the first time I met him was in the courtroom where he was prosecuting a death penalty case. For Dick Donovan's appearance in the courtroom, how many of you have seen him defending a criminal inside the courtroom? I'll bet none! I know people who work in a courthouse and say they have never seen him inside a courtroom defending anyone. Remember, he is a defense attorney. Shouldn’t he have been seen inside the courtroom a few times out of his 3,000 plus cases?

A divorce involving no children typically takes no more than 6 months. Factoring in politics and the good-ol- boy system mine took four years, four lawyers and hundreds of thousands of dollars. This is where my experience began. I began to learn of the existence of political influences and how they affect the common citizen. I met Dick Donovan when he was the court appointed mediator in my divorce. At that time, Dick had been nominated for judge in Paulding County. My husband’s attorney was the governor’s law partner. I believe my case was an opportunity for Dick Donovan to advance into a political career position appointed by the governor. My husband left me and was living with his new fiancé within a month, attempted to completely destroy my business, and was receiving alimony from me while also receiving unemployment benefits for him. As with all divorce cases, mine was referred to a court appointed mediator. As I understand it, a mediator’s primary responsibility is to be an impartial, neutral advisor focused on assisting two disagreeing parties towards a fair and reasonable resolution. Mediator (Dick Donovan) behaved aggressively towards me (120 lbs. woman) by slamming his large hand on the table and demanding that I do as he said. He demanded that I sign the papers submitted by my husband's attorney awarding my husband with all marital assets of his choice and I was to continue to pay $750 per week alimony. This was hardly a fair suggestion from a mediator much less a DEMAND from a mediator. I refused and Donovan continued to badger me until I ran out of the courthouse. During the second mediation that I was forced to attend with Donovan again as mediator, I was put in a room for 2 hours alone with my husband whom I had a temporary protective order against for obvious reasons, and Donovan, with all his family values, was fully aware of the temporary protection order I had against my husband. Would he have suggested these same circumstances for his daughter? After those 2 hours I was then placed in a room with Donovan to be intimidated, badgered, insulted, and threatened with jail. I was the victim in this case, but was persecuted by anything but an impartial mediator as he defended the criminal.

In my experiences and results with Dick Donovan is where I place my credibility to choose a DA and this is not the one I choose.
