Mr. John E. “Jake” Griffin, age 81, of Hiram, passed away on Saturday, September 23, 2006. He was born on April 23, 1925 in Dallas to the late Henry David and Fannie Rackley Griffin. He was a member of Mt. Tabor Church UMC.

Surviving are his wife, Nettie Marie Griffin; sons and daughters-in-law, Talmadge and Barbara McBrayer of Hiram, Hollis McBrayer of Hiram and Marvin and Tina McBrayer of Douglasville; a daughter and son-in-law, Marie and Thomas Butler of Douglasville; a brother, L. D. Griffin of Dallas; a sister, Ava Mayfield of Dallas; eight grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. from Clark Funeral Home in Hiram with Reverend Doy Willingham and Reverend Archie Parker officiating. The interment will follow in Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery with Joe Butler, Michael McBrayer, Josh McBrayer, Marvin McBrayer, Talmadge McBrayer, Hollis McBrayer, Ricky Mayfield and Rudy Griffin serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram is in charge of arrangements.
