Mrs. Helen Carmen Pierce, age 84, of Rockmart (Paulding Co.), passed away on Monday, August 2, 2004. She was born on February 6, 1920 in Dalton, Georgia to the late Tom Solmon and Rubie Thelma Rich. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mt. Rachael Baptist Church in Dalton, GA. She was preceded in death by her son, John Michael Stoner.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin S. Pierce; daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Jimmy Harper of Dalton and Diane and Larry Locklear of Rockmart; sisters, Betty Buckley of Midway, GA and Patricia Cantrell of Daytona Beach, FL; a brother and sister-in-law, Gordon and Catherine Rich of Dalton; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 4, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Joseph Murphy officiating. The interment will follow at 3:30 p.m. in Whitfield Memorial Gardens in Dalton, Georgia with Angee Locklear, Misty Locklear, Dale Eaves, Rita Fisher, Kevin Fisher, Jamie Eaves and Annette Kraft serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram in charge of arrangements.
