Mr. Donald W. Shaw, age 93, of Kennesaw, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2006. He was born on January 22, 1913 in Acworth to the late Marshall D. and Alma Shaw. He was retired from Lockheed after 32 years of service and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Shaw was involved in many ministries and youth programs. The baseball field at Harrison High School was named in his honor. Mr. Shaw was an avid gardener who was known for his beautiful flowers. He left a Christian legacy to his family and all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his wives, Georgia Chandler Shaw who passed away in 1937 and his wife of 66 years, Ora Belle Shaw.

Surviving are his sons and daughters-in-law, Doyle Grant and Janet Shaw of Kennesaw and Dr. Terry Don and Nancy Shaw of Acworth; a daughter, Barbara Shaw and Jim “Tex” Farr of Dallas; a sister, Birdie Starling of Decatur, GA; 8 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 20, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. from Piney Grove Baptist Church in Acworth with Rev. J. T. Hollingshed, Rev. Larry Davis and Rev. David Owen officiating. Mr. Shaw will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to the service. The interment will follow in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Acworth. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA is in charge of arrangements. 770-445-7133.
