Clark Funeral Home Posted March 7, 2017 Report Share Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Umbrey Tibbitts, age 85, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2017. He was born on May 13, 1931, in Dallas, GA, to the late L. M. “Fate” & Bertha Lola Womack Tibbitts. Mr. Tibbitts retired as a master mechanic from the International Union of Operating Engineers, GA Power Plant Yates. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church and a member of I.U.O.E. #926. Umbrey was a cattle farmer and gardener. He loved his family, grandchildren, southern gospel music and Braves baseball. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Sue Pope Tibbitts of Dallas, GA; children, Connie Tibbitts of Dallas, GA, Retha Tibbitts of Powder Springs, GA, Tony & Deborah Tibbitts of Lithia Springs, GA, and Tammy & Stuart Kone of Douglasville, GA; brother, Ed & Catherine Tibbitts of Dallas, GA; sisters, Doris Lance of Hiram, GA, and Helen Thomas of Hiram, GA; grandchildren, Erin & Mike Kinzer, Cassie Tibbitts, Molly Tibbitts, Harrison & Annelise Kone, Tyler Kone and Ryan Kone; great-grandchildren, Madison Gipson, Lily Gipson, and Andrew Gipson; uncles, Woodrow Tibbitts of Marietta, GA, and Jack & Idell Tibbitts of Dallas, GA; many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 3 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Todd Tibbitts officiating. Interment will follow in Paulding Memorial Gardens. Harrison Kone, Tyler Kone, Ryan Kone, Mike Kinzer, Bo Hutchinson and Douglas Cochran will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, March 10, 2017, from 5 PM until 8 PM, and on Saturday, March 11, 2017, from 1 PM until the time of service. Flowers are accepted or donations can be made to the Good Samaritan Center of Douglas County, 6768 West Spring Street, Douglasville, GA 30134, in memory of Mr. Umbrey Tibbitts.
