Clark Funeral Home Posted October 28, 2016 Report Share Posted October 28, 2016 (edited) James Clinton Johns “Tunnie”, peacefully passed away in Dallas, GA on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the age of 88. Tunnie was born on August 9, 1928, in Hiram, GA to the late Nick & Mary Johns. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Sonia Johns; brothers, Buster & Dickey Johns; sisters, Eva Mae (Tiny) Corley, Reba New, and Myrtle Harper. He enjoyed sports and was a standout basketball player at Hiram High School. He proudly served his country in the Army for several years. He married Sonia Freeman on June 20, 1953. The two celebrated 54 wonderful years together. Tunnie was a hard working man who loved God and always put his family first. He was active in his community and will be extremely missed by family and friends. He was a member of 2nd Baptist Church of Dallas. Tunnie is survived by son, Doug Johns of Dallas, GA; son & daughter-in-law, Mark & Amy Johns of Dallas, GA; granddaughters, Alyssa Johns, Abby Johns & Amber Johns, all of Dallas, GA; several nieces & nephews. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 11:00 AM, from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Paul Hebert officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tunnie’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family graciously requests donations be made to 2nd Baptist Church of Dallas in memory of James Clinton “Tunnie” Johns.
