Douglas M. Lindsey - November 15, 1922 - July 28, 2016

Mr. Douglas M. Lindsey, age 93, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Thursday evening, July 28, 2016, following a lengthy illness.

 

Mr. Lindsey was born in Atlanta, GA, on November 15, 1922, the son of the late Ollie and Sylvia Jones Lindsey. He had spent the greater part of his life in Dallas and Paulding County and was a 1940 graduate of Dallas High School. Mr. Lindsey was a firefighter with the Atlanta Fire Department for over 30 years. He was a member of the Pine Ridge Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and for a number of years taught Sunday School. Mr. Lindsey was an avid gardener and also enjoyed raising cattle. He was married in May of 1949, to Louise Austin Lindsey and she preceded him in death on February 10, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Billy Lindsey.

 

Mr. Lindsey is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Mark Callaway of Marietta, GA; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Brenda Lindsey, also of Marietta; three granddaughters and their spouses, Erin and Rob Collini, Megan and Mark Herrmann and Whitney Callaway; two great-grandchildren, Ella Herrmann and Grant Douglas Herrmann.

 

Funeral services for Mr. Lindsey will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 31, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home. Private interment will follow in the Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m.
