J.R. Shipp - January 2, 1926 - April 11, 2016

J.R. Shipp, age 90, of Mableton, GA, passed away on April 11, 2016. He was born on January 2, 1926, in Hiram, GA, to the late Glenn Homer & Effie Shipp, and was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah Ann Shipp, son, David Shipp, brother, Reverend Samuel Shipp, and sisters, Geneva Eberhart and Rose Roberts. Mr. Shipp was a United States Navy Gunner Seaman 1^st Class Veteran serving in World War II, retired from Southern Railroad after 45 years of service, and was a member of Cochran Ridge Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his daughter, Sherry & Levon Mulkey of Rydal, GA; sisters, Margie Ricks of Atlanta, GA, and Brenda Shipp of Gulf Port, Mississippi; grandson, Douglas Neese; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at 3 PM, from Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, with Brother Rick Eaves officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, April 13, 2016, from 1 PM until the time of service.
