Mrs. Martha Ann Priest Covington, affectionately known as “Mot”, age 77, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Saturday morning, February 13, 2016, at her residence.

 

Martha was born on August 5, 1938, in Decatur, GA, the daughter of the late Clemon Herbert Priest and Georgie Mae Clark Priest. Martha enjoyed reading, crocheting, playing on the computer, gambling, working outside in her garden and canning vegetables. As a housewife of many years, she loved spending quality time with her family and was honored to serve the Lord. In addition to her parents, Martha was preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Jo Staton and Patsy Priest.

 

Martha is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, Hugh Elgin Covington, to whom she was married on March 23, 1957; one daughter, Lynn Covington West of Dallas; one son, Kenny Covington of Marietta, GA; three grandchildren, Bradley West and his wife, Brittany, of Rockmart, GA, Chandler Covington of Dallas and Derek West of Dallas; two great-grandchildren, Britlea West and Porter West, both of Rockmart, GA; two sisters, Kathryn Payne of Canton, GA and Frances Payne of Jasper, GA; four brothers, R.L. Priest of Cumming, GA, Herbert Priest of Woodstock, GA, Bobby Priest of Woodstock and Charles Priest of Canton. A host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends also survive.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Martha Ann Priest Covington will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Payne officiating. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens in Hiram, GA.

 

Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral on Tuesday by 12:30 p.m. and include Matthew Benson, Robbie Priest, Mike Priest, Glenn Payne, Brian Priest and Jeff Priest.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, February 14, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and all day on Monday, February 15, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
