Mrs. Willa Mae Thackston Hancock, age 88, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA.

 

Willa was born on May 13, 1927, in Hiram, GA, to loving parents, the late Mr. James Newport Thackston and Mrs. Daisy McMichen Thackston. Willa married Carl Thomas Hancock, Jr. and was a devoted homemaker. In her spare time, Willa was an avid reader and had a library of several thousand books. She also loved history and studied genealogy. She travelled extensively in her lifetime as well. Willa was of the Christian faith.

 

In addition to her parents, Willa is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mr. Carl Thomas Hancock, Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Nancy E. Patterson; grandson, Samuel Patterson, and 11 siblings.

 

Willa is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Charlotte (Earl) Miller of Dallas; son, Mr. Carl (Cathy) Hancock III also of Dallas; five grandchildren, Tim (Brandi) Miller of England, Cindy (Scott) Huffman of Forney, TX, Ray Patterson of Mableton, GA, Thomas Hancock and Jackson Hancock both of Dallas. Eight great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

The funeral service for Mrs. Willa Mae Thackston Hancock will be held in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Friday, January 15, 2016, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Jason Morgan officiating. The Tibbitts family will provide music for the service. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 14, 2016, from 5:00 until 9:00 PM.
