Carolyn Grogan Saunders - June 12, 1933 - December 28, 2015

Mrs. Carolyn Grogan Saunders, age 82, of Dallas passed away peacefully at her residence on Monday, December 28, 2015.

Carolyn was born in Dallas, GA in the New Hope Community on June 12, 1933 to loving parents, the late Mr. James Jacob “Jake” Grogan and Mrs. Vera Mae Brock Grogan. Carolyn retired from Lockheed where she worked as a secretary. A Christian, she was a member of Zion Baptist Church. In her spare time, she loved to travel and was passionate about exercise. In particular, she loved walking. In addition, she loved to read.

 

In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by six siblings, Mr. Frank Grogan, Mr. J.P. Grogan, Mrs. Margie Turner, Mr. Caston Grogan, Mrs. Irma Anderson, and Mrs. Jean Holbert.

 

Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband of 45 years Mr. John Saunders; 4 children, Mr. David (Kathy) Wigley of Dallas, Mr. David Saunders of Pearl River, MS, Ms. Deborah Osborne of Austin, TX, and Mr. Steve Saunders of Dallas; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Doris Wright of Heflin, AL and Mrs. Tommie Love of Flowery Branch, GA. Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

The funeral service for Mrs. Carolyn Grogan Saunders will be held at Crossroads Baptist Church on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 12 PM with Rev. Harold Turner and Rev. Travis Warren officiating. Interment will follow in the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 30, 2015 from 4-9 PM.
