Lynn C. Thomas- May 10, 1945 - December 17, 2015

Lynn C. Thomas, age 70, of Dallas, GA, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2015. He was born to Lyle C. Thomas & Maudie Deloris Lowe Thomas on May 10, 1945 in Dodge City, KS. Lynn was a U.S. government employee for 50 years. He served two tours in Vietnam as a Navy Seal and a Navy Seabee, and was awarded a purple heart. He retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, “Forest Service”, in 1995. He served in75 foreign countries and had many unusual and interesting stories to tell. He was a mentor and an inspiration to many.

 

Lynn was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, and especially enjoyed working at the church booth each year at Paulding Meadows. Lynn & his wife, Sylvia attended high school together in Liberal, KS and graduated in 1964.

 

Lynn is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sylvia Thomas of Dallas, GA; daughters, Laura Thomas of Dallas, GA and Sarah Thomas Morgan & her husband, Kevin of Dallas, GA; grandchildren, Rodolfo Thomas, Hannah Alexander & Cooper Morgan; great-grandchild, Allyson Sofia Thomas; sister, Linda Thomas Morton & her husband, Cliff of OK; four nephews; two nieces.

 

Memorial services for Lynn will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, at 11:00 AM, from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Don Rackley officiating.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 22, 2015, from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

 

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Kansas where Lynn will be buried next to his parents in Mullinville, KS.
