Mr. Olin Blake "Big Daddy" Chastain, Sr.

Mr. Olin Blake Chastain, Sr. affectionately known as "Big Daddy" to his family and friends, age 53, of Dallas passed away at his residence on Sunday, September 13, 2015.

 

Blake was born on June 27, 1962 in Marietta, GA to loving parents, the late Mr. Howard Chastain and Mrs. Esther Jones Chastain. A Christian, Blake was of the Baptist faith. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and singing, NASCAR, and was a Georgia Bulldog and Atlanta Falcons football fan. Above all, Blake loved his wife and children, and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was proud of his family and devoted his life to spending time with them. Blake will always be remembered for his sense of humor and devotion to his wife, children, and grandchildren.

 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Chastain, as well as 2 brothers, Tommy Chastain and Sammy Chastain; and 1 sister, Lisa Rose.

 

Blake is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mrs. Mary Bowman Chastain of Dallas; 4 children, Mary (Wayne) Harrell of Hiram, Leslie O'Dell of Dallas, Amanda (Austin) Bell of Dallas, and Blake Chastain, Jr. also of Dallas; 5 grandchildren, Samantha Harrell, Austin Harrell, Shawn Harrell, and Braylen Harrell all of Hiram and Kila O'Dell of Dallas; 1 sister, Judy Messaadi of Dallas; 2 brothers, Greg (Terrie) Chastain and Stephen (Sheila) Chastain both of Dallas. Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive.

 

The funeral service for Blake Chastain, Sr. will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at 1 PM in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Chuck Tillman officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery. Blake Chastain, Jr., Steven Watts, Austin Bell, Tracy Hardy, Ed Vaughn, and Scott Schaller will serve as pallbearers. Wayne Harrell and Raymond Moss will serve as honorary pallbearers.

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 4-9 PM.
