Clark Funeral Home Posted August 25, 2015 Report Share Posted August 25, 2015 Harry Durward Stamps, JR, age 93, of Dallas, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2015. He was a devoted and loving husband to his wife Mary, and a strong leader and father for his three daughters, Laura, Amy and Jana. Harry was born in Bethpage, Tennessee on May 13, 1922, son of Harry Durward Stamps, SR and Delton Sloan Stamps. He served in the United States Marines during WWII and again during the Korean conflict as an airplane mechanic and in communications. He met Mary Sue Leatherwood in 1959 in Valley Station, Kentucky, where they also wed on November 9, 1961. Harry retired from AT&T in 1987, after a 40 year career. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary Stamps of Dallas, GA; daughters; Laura Anne Stamps Watson (Chris), Amy Faye Swicord (Mark) and Jana Sue Taylor; grandchildren, Wesley Walraven, CJ Braasch, Akasha Watson, Evan Taylor, Ryan Taylor, Alex Taylor and Rachel Swicord, niece, Patricia Hodnick. Preceding him were his parents, sister, Annie Laura and brother, Calvin. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2015, at 3 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Pastor Wayne Meadows and Pastor George Barnett officiating. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27, 2015, 1 PM until the time of service. Funeral services will also be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 2 PM CST at Alexander Funeral Home in Gallatin, TN, The family will receive friends at Alexander Funeral Home on Saturday, August 29, 2015 from 12 PM CST until the time of service.
