Funeral Director Posted July 13, 2015 Report Share Posted July 13, 2015 Mrs. Betty Jewell Turner Black, age 83, of Dallas passed away peacefully on July 11, 2015 at the Paulding Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Betty was born on June 18, 1932 in Dallas to loving parents the late Mr. Noah Turner and Mrs. Cinnie Thomason Turner. She married Claude B. Black, Sr. and enjoyed 41 years of marriage before Claude’s death in 1993. A Christian, Betty attended Narroway Baptist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. In addition to her parents and her husband, Betty is preceded in death by one son, Michael Black and one grandson, Nick Black. Betty is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Gail (Troy) Potts of Dallas and Ms. Debra Black also of Dallas; 2 sons, Mr. Sonny (Leona) Black and Mr. Osie (Denise) Black both of Dallas; 7 grandchildren, Jamie Potts and partner James Gilreath, Clint Black, Tony Black, Christie Jewell (Dale) Huddleston, Daniel Black, Jana Bandy all of Dallas and Shannon (Austin) McCurdy of Villa Rica; 11 great grandchildren and 1 sister, Mrs. JoAnn Martin of Chattanooga, TN. Several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jewell Turner Black will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2 PM at Narroway Baptist Church with Reverend Jimmy Tibbitts and Reverend Todd Tibbitts officiating. Music will be provided by the Tibbitts family. Clint Black, Tony Black, Daniel Black, Austin McCurdy, Dale Huddleston, and James Gilreath will serve as pallbearers. Carl Martin and David Martin will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, July 13, 2015 from 4-9 PM. In lieu of flowers they are requesting that donations be made to the Narroway Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
