Mrs. Harriet Fritter Matthews, age 62 of Dallas, GA passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014 at her daughter’s residence.


Mrs. Matthews was born on March 12, 1952 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Robert Phillip Fritter and Paulita Varada Fritter. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved playing cards, bingo and doing crossword puzzles. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by a brother, William Floyd Fritter and a sister, Virginia Louise Fritter.


Mrs. Matthews is survived by two daughters, Barbara Huff and her husband, Brent, of Rockmart and Leslie Towns and her husband, Michael, of Marietta; five grandchildren, Ryan and Aaron Huff of Rockmart, Ashley and Justin Towns of Dallas, and Lauren Matthews of Marietta; mother, Paulita Varada Fritter of Virginia Beach, VA; husband of twenty-six years, Cletus Groves of Dallas; two sisters, Cynthia Lee Brown and her husband, David, of Richmond, VA and Theresa Marie Balsor and her husband, Michael, of Suffolk, VA; a brother, Robert Joseph Fritter and his wife, Lidia, of Suffolk, VA;

and several nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.


The family will receive friends at the Huff residence at 4090 Holly Springs Road, Rockmart, GA 30153 on Saturday, May 31st, 2014 from 2-5 pm.
