Funeral Director Posted May 16, 2014 Report Share Posted May 16, 2014 Mr. Max Walker, age 77, of Douglasville, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, May 15, 2014. Max was born on December 16, 1936, in Ft. Payne AL, to loving parents the late Mr. Ben Walker, and Mrs. Irma Camp Walker. He was also preceded in death by one sister Mrs. Irene Ellis, one brother Mr. Johnny Walker, three step sisters Mrs. Irene Vaughn, Mrs. Winnie Cagle, and Mrs. Vinnie Lee Boggs; one half-brother Mr. Jackie Walker; one step brother Mr. MG Vaughn; and two step sisters Mrs. May Quails, and Mrs. Frances Reynolds. Max was a godly man who loved to sing, pray, read the Bible and go to church. He was a faithful member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church. He served as a Deacon and sang in the choir. His love of God made him a wonderful father and friend. He loved his wife, friends and family; and enjoyed attending family reunions. He was a very outgoing man and never met a stranger. Max was a creative individual and enjoyed gardening and woodworking. Max is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Mrs. Edna Walker of Douglasville; two daughters Mr. and Mrs. (CL) Diane Powers, and Ms. Teresa Walker both of Rockmart; one son Mr. Clifton Walker of Douglasville; six grandchildren Mr. & Mrs. Jason (Jessica) Walker of Colorado, Mr. & Mrs. Tim (Wendy) Hornbuckle of Cartersville, Ms. Amanda Croker, Mr. Joshua Crocker, Ms. Shelby Walker, and Mr. & Mrs. Bryan (Shawn) Mauldin all of Rockmart; ten great grandchildren Emma Hornbuckle, Taylor Hornbuckle both of Cartersville, Lucas Fowler, Peyton Brock, Addie Mauldin all of Rockmart, Cory Mauldin, Ashley Mauldin both of Villa Rica, Madilyn Walker, Alexander Walker, and Samuel Walker all of Colorado; one sister Mrs. Marion Fite of Ft. Payne, AL; one half-brother Mr. RL Walker ; one step brother Mr. Ben Vaughn; one half-sister Mrs. Pat Dooley; and two step sisters Mrs. Lorine Ziegler, and Mrs. Shirley Tucker; as well as many beloved friends. Funeral services for Mr. Max Walker will be held at Pine Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 4 pm with Reverend CL Powers and Reverend Scott Thomas officiating. Joshua Crocker, Terry Fennell, Bryan Mauldin, Tim Hornbuckle, Jeremy Trout, Andy Walker, and Jonathan Matthews will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Paulding Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, May 16, 2014 from 6 – 10 pm, and Saturday, May 17, 2014 from 9 am until we leave for the church at 3:30 pm.
