+subby1
Before I got into this several years ago, I was not very familiar with mulching. I had been using my Snapper with a bagger that filled up every 10 minutes and was a pain in my dexterior!! Since moving out here, and getting into the business, I found that a MULCHING system is much better, and HALF the work!! Basically, you only need to do TWO simple things to your existing mower (push, and/or riding mower)...outfit it with a bonafide mulching blade..(these blades not NOT flat, but have an elevated portion in between the center and outer edges, with a deflecting angle). NEXT, and most important of all...outfit your discharge part of the deck with a COVER. They make plastic covers that seal your deck, which enables mulching. You CANNOT mulch with just the blade(s)....the deck must be sealed to work properly. When everything is in place, this is what you get....the SAME appearance as bagging without having to use a bag. Even better, the leaves are ground into a fine dust that settles into the ground and provides a better alkaline content to your soil. (please note: LEAVES ONLY!!! PINE STRAW will kill your remaining yard, as pine straw is very acidic (high in alkaline) and will prevent anything from growing. The end result (given the right tree growth and fallen leaves) is a well manicured yard that requires no frequent dumping of leaves from a bag, and is infused with moisture-holding mulch.
