Funeral Director Posted June 4, 2013 Report Share Posted June 4, 2013 Mr. John B. “J. B.” Carter, age 62 of Dallas passed away on Monday, June 3, 2013 from a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Mr. Carter was born on May 11, 1951 in New York City, New York, the son of the late Marion Carter. J. B. had worked as a conductor with the Norfolk Southern Railroad and retired after 36 years due to complications from the pancreatic cancer. Mr. Carter was a member of the Barlett Lodge #139 for over 25 years. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, gardening and camping. In addition to his mother, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, John Carter, Sr. and Harriett Carter of New York. Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of 10 years, Henrietta Carter; daughters, Julie Pownall and her husband, Todd of Dallas and Joanne Rosenberg and her spouse, Heather of Smyrna; son, Jason Carter of Spartanburg, SC; step-sons, Michael Tidwell and his wife, Beth of Rydal, GA and Scott Tidwell and his wife, Angie of Lineville, AL; two grandchildren; ten step-grandchildren; mother in law, Lois Hagan of Dallas; and special family members, Wayne Carter and Melanie Carter of Texas. Funeral services for Mr. Carter will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Eugene McBrayer and Rev. Brad Fussel officiating. Interment will follow in the Paulding Memorial Gardens. Wilbur Frey, Marvin Frey, Dean Frey, Scott Tidwell, Michael Tidwell, and Robert Abernathy will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, June 5, 2013 from 5-8 pm and on June 6, 2013 from 9 am until the funeral hour.
