J.D. Strickland, age 88, of Woodland, AL passed away on Friday, January 4, 2013. He was employed with the Dallas New Era for approximately 17 years and was a member of McPhearson Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Mr. Strickland was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Fannie Meeks Strickland, wife, Edith Mae Mayfield Strickland, a daughter, Janice Clayton, and sons, James Strickland and Sammy Strickland.

Survivors include his daughter, Marie Weaver, of Woodland, AL; sister, Willie Mae Myers, of Yorkville, GA; grandchildren, Debbie and Edmond Camp, of Dallas, GA, Tammy Weaver and Robbie Floyd, of Dallas, GA, Amie and Sammy Brinkley, of Muscadine, Al, Melissa and Jessie Still, of Hiram, GA, Ashley Stallings, of Douglasville, GA, Shae Shaw, of Marietta, GA and Brittany and Kenny Rogers, of Woodland, AL.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 7, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. from the Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA with Rev. Jimmy Tibbitts officiating. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Sammy Brinkley, Tristan Bell, Jessie Still, Kenny Rogers, Cody Kennedy and Edmond Camp. Hononary pallbearers will be Harold Myers and Robbie Floyd. The interment will follow in the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 6, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Clark Funeral Home in Hiram, GA is in charge of arrangements.
