Funeral Director Posted November 12, 2012 Report Share Posted November 12, 2012 Mr. Billy Auston Butterworth, age 73 of Temple passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at Tanner Higgins Hospital in Bremen. Mr. Butterworth was born on February 14, 1939 in Canton, GA the son of the late John Austin Butterworth and the late Tillie Mae Butterworth. Mr. Butterworth worked as a machinist with Lockheed-Martin and was of the Baptist Faith. Billy enjoyed fishing, reading, playing the lottery and spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Mr. Butterworth is preceded in death by three sisters, Cozette Dobbs, Polly Forum and Johnny Long; two brothers, Frank Butterworth and Bob Butterworth. Mr. Butterworth is survived by his wife, Virginia Butterworth; three sons, John Austin Butterworth of South GA, Gregory Lee Butterworth of Florida and David Preston Baxter, Jr. of Cartersville; four daughters, Pamela Denise Law of Acworth, Angela Darlene Baxter of Temple, Toni Lynn Cantrell of Dallas, and Tina Annette Haynes of Temple; eighteen grandchildren, Johnathan Butterworth, Austin Butterworth, Abigail Butterworth, Denae Pruitt, Michael Mims, Todd Alloway, Keith Law, Kevin Law, Joey Baxter, Karissa Sowell, Haley Baxter, Mitchell McCoy, Matthew McCoy, Nathan McCoy, Angel Pollock, Blake Marshall, Tyler Gazaway, and Noah Gazaway; thirteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Rachel Pope of Niceville, FL and many nieces and nephews also survives. Funeral arrangements for Mr. Butterworth will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Reverend David Baxter officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. Blake Marshall, Joey Baxter, Tyler Gazaway, Kevin Law, Nathan McCoy, Mathew McCoy, Mitchell McCoy and Keith Law have been asked to serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 13, 2012 from 3:00pm until 9:00 pm and on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 9:00 am until the funeral hour.
