Funeral Director Posted October 4, 2012 Report Share Posted October 4, 2012 Mrs. Catherine Laverne Ethridge, age 77, of Douglasville, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at her residence. Catherine was born on March 1, 1935 in Atlanta, GA to loving parents the late Mr. Ernest William Black and Mrs. Effie Mae Norris Black. She was also preceded in death by one sister Mrs. Diane Eriquezzo and one brother Mr. Danny Black. Catherine and her husband Senior Pastor Herman Ethridge were founding members of Christian Life Center. The church was founded September of 1981. She was the Adult Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a stay at home mom and homemaker. She enjoyed flower gardening. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years Mr. Herman V. Ethridge of Douglasville, GA; three daughters Mrs. Deborah & Mr. Johnny Parker, Mrs. Beverly & Mr. Jim Stafford, and Mrs. Jennifer & Mr. Jason Edwards all of Douglasville, GA; three sons Mr. Vernon & Mrs. Jackie Ethridge of Douglasville, GA, Mr. Joe & Mrs. Darlene Ethridge of Hiram, GA, and Mr. Steve & Mrs. Janet Ethridge of Dallas, GA; twenty grandchildren, forty great grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Juanita Bonds of Dallas, GA and Mrs. Gail Eley of Douglasville, GA; three brothers Mr. Billy Black of Dallas, GA, Mr. Ronnie Black of Brooks, GA, and Mr. Merle “Hayden” Black of Dallas, GA; many nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; great, great nieces and nephews, many other beloved family and friends. A memorial service for Mrs. Ethridge will be held at Christian Life Center on Sunday, October 7, 2012 at 2 pm with the Reverend Johnny Parker officiating. The family requests that all flowers sent be live flowers. The family would like to transplant these flowers to her garden in honor of her memory.
