Mr. Ruben A. Ayers

Mr. Ruben Arnold Ayers, age 89 of Douglasville passed away on Monday, September 24, 2012 at Tanner Hospital at Villa Rica.

 

 

Mr. Ayers was born on August 29, 1923 in Douglasville, GA the son of the late Lucious Thomas Ayers and the late Alice Fields Ayers. Mr. Ayers was a member of the New Georgia Baptist Church and was a retired foreman with Atlantic Steel. Mr. Ayers was a veteran of the United States Navy proudly serving during WWII.

 

 

Mr. Ayers is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mrs. Mary “Lady” Ayers; two sons, Billy and Linda Ayers and Doug Ayers, all of Douglasville; a daughter, Bonnie and Frank Rainey of Alabama; five grandchildren; sixgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Willard Ayers of North Carolina; and a sister, Geneva Foster of Dallas.

 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Ayers will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM at New Georgia Baptist Church with Dr. James Burdette and Brother Charles Bice officiating. Interment will follow at Melrose Hills Memorial Park. Lew Ayers, Randy Foster, Larry Austin, TommyAyers, Ryan Ayers, Michael Austin and Kevin Holmes have been asked to serve as pallbearers.

 

 

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 26,2012 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Thursday, September 27, 2012 from 9:00 AM until they leave in procession to the church.
