Mr. Gene A. Midgett, age 71 of Dallas passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Halcyon Hospice in Atlanta, GA.

 

 

 

Mr. Midgett was born on August 1, 1940 in Bellhaven, North Carolina the son of the late Daniel Toppin Midgett and Sarah Mary Elizabeth Overton Midgett. Mr. Midgett was a Marine and Army National Guard veteran. Mr. Midgett was a minister having preached for over fifteen years and was a member of the New Vision Full Gospel Church. He enjoyed making jewelry, hunting and fishing. Mr. Midgett is preceded in death by his step-daughter, Melanie Raimey Gibbs in 2004; sister, Doris Clayton in 2003; and a brother, Rudolph Midgett in 1964.

 

 

 

Mr. Midgett is survived by his wife, Norma L. Midgett; three daughters, Susan (Morris) Harbin of Loganville, Barbara (Eric) Voliva of Columbia, NC and Teresa Perez of Jonesboro; son, Michael (Caroline) Midgett of Dallas; step-son, Chris (Pam) Raimey of Dallas; step-daughter, Cecilia (Chip) Waites of Sugar Hill; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, eleven step-grandchildren; twenty-six step-great-grandchildren; six sisters, Mattie Berry of Engelhard, NC, Mary Robinson of Columbia, NC; Jacqueline (Lonnie) Williams of Panama City, FL, Mildred (Earl) Chrismon of Bath, NC, Melba Ambrose of Kill Devil Hills, NC, Nancy Brickhouse (Vernon Twitty) of Virginia; two brothers, Earl (Betty) Midgett of Cairo, GA and Robert (Linda) Midgett of Chocowinty, NC and multitudes of nieces and nephews.

 

 

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Midgett will be held on Friday, July 20, 2012 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of the Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Rev. Daryl Golden, Rev. Bobby Cheek, and Rev. Ed Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Mozley Memorial Gardens, 3180 S. Sweetwater Road, Lithia Springs, GA. The following gentlemen have been asked to serve as pallbearers: Phillip Raimey, Casey Voliva, Bryan Henry, Eddie Smith, Clay Walker and Lynn Conrad.

 

 

 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, July 19, 2012 from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm and on Friday, July 20, 2012 from 9:00 am until the funeral hour.
