Funeral Director Posted June 22, 2012 Report Share Posted June 22, 2012 Mrs. Ava Irene Griffin Mayfield, age 90, of Dallas, Georgia passed away on Friday, June 22, 2012 at her home. Mrs. Ava Mayfield was born on June 19, 1922 in Dallas, GA to loving parents the late Mr. Henry David Griffin and Mrs. Fannie Eleanor Rackley Griffin. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Mr. Ernest Mayfield who passed away in 1989; one daughter Miss Kathy Wallace who passed away in 2004; three sisters Mrs. Inez Eberhart, Mrs. Irma Gravett, and Mrs. Gladys McGouirk; five brothers Mr. Kermit Griffin, Mr. L.D. Griffin, Mr. Bence Griffin, Mr. Howard Griffin, and Mr. J. E. Griffin. Ava worked as a spinner in the textile industry. Upon her death she was the oldest living member of Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, working with flowers and relaxing on her front porch. She also enjoyed playing the piano. Mrs. Mayfield is survived by her two sons Mr. Ricky Mayfield and Mr. & Mrs. Carl D. (Sandy) Wallace both of Dallas, GA; one daughter Mr. & Mrs. Lew (Kaye) Trine of Whitwell, TN; eight grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, many nieces, nephews and other beloved family and friends. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Sunday, June 24, 2012 at 3 pm with the Reverend Earnie Allen and Brother Ricky Rakestraw officiating. Music will be provided by Ricky Rakestraw and Bill Cochran. Serving as pallbearers will be Jason Wallace, Jerry Wallace, Joseph Wallace, Todd Mayfield, Kevin Crowe, Todd Crowe, Justin McClung, Brandon Johns, and Joshua Addison. Interment will follow at Mt. Tabor United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, June 23, 2012 from 4 – 9 pm and Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 9 am until the time of service.
