Mr. Billy Joe Meeks

Mr. Billy Joe Meeks, age 76 of Buchanan, GA passed away on Monday, February 20, 2012 at his residence.

 

 

 

Mr. Meeks was born on June 29, 1935 to loving parents, the late Mr. James Washington Meeks and the late Mrs. Josie Estell Johnson Meeks. Mr. Meeks was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Evans Meeks in 1999; two brothers, Mr. Dorsey Meeks and Mr. Edward Meeks; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Mae Locklear and Mrs. Mary Atcheson.

 

 

 

Mr. Meeks was a member of the Victory Baptist Church and was an Air Force veteran proudly serving during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Meeks was a member of the West Georgia Beagle club and enjoyed hunting with his dogs. He also loved spending time with his family.

 

 

 

Mr. Billy Joe Meeks is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Rev. Joey and Tammy Meeks, Buchanan; daughter and son-in-law, Mr. David and Melissa McKenzie, Buchanan; four grandchildren, Matthew and Katie Meeks, Dallas, Jacob Meeks, Valdosta, Nicole McKenzie, Buchanan, and Andrew and Courtney McKenzie, Gaylord, Michigan; one great-grandchild, Jonah Meeks, Dallas and many nieces and nephews also survives.

 

 

 

Funeral Services for Mr. Meeks will be held on Thursday,February 23, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Victory Baptist Church, 2907 Mulberry Rock Road, Dallas, GA with the Rev. Leonard Chambers, Rev. Glenn Morrow and Rev.Chris Simpson officiating. Mr. Meeks will lie in state at the church from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour. Randy Meeks, Robbie Meeks, Gene Allen, Timothy Gowens, Cicero Evans, Barry Meeks will serve as pallbearers. Military graveside and interment will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.

 

 

 

The family of Mr. Meeks will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 3 – 9 pm and on Thursday, February23, 2012 from 9 am until the funeral hour.
