James Dale "J.D." Rakestraw

Mr. James Dale “J.D.” Rakestraw age 69 of Dallas, GA. passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at his home.

 

Mr. Rakestraw was born on January 27, 1942, the son of the late Mr. George Wallace Rakestraw and Mrs. Odell Brown Rakestraw. Mr. Rakestraw retired as a line foreman from Georgia Power Co. after 39 years of service. He enjoyed bluegrass music, wood working/saw milling, deer hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrial Workers, R.A. Director for New Canaan Baptist Church and involved with the California Ball Field.

 

Mr. Rakestraw is survived by his beloved wife of nineteen years Mrs. Mindy Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. Two sons, Tim and Becky Lee Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. Steve and Stephanie Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. Sister, Clive and June Rakestraw Freeman of Dallas, GA. Three brothers, Wylie and Annette Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. J.W. and Mona Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. Ronnie and Shirley Rakestraw of Dallas, GA. Four grandchildren, Amy Rakestraw, Lane Rakestraw, Brad Rakestraw and Niki Rakestraw Estep all of Dallas, GA. Eight great grandchildren many nieces, nephews and beloved family and friends.

 

Mr. Rakestraw is preceded in death by his beloved parents Mr. and Mrs. George Wallace Rakestraw, Brother Weyman Rakestraw, Sister Eileen Rakestraw Johnson and infant brother.

 

Funeral services for Mr. James Dale “J.D.” Rakestraw will be conducted on Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 2 pm in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home. Reverend Thomas Cole and Reverend Todd Tibbitts will be officiating. Pall bearers will include Bobby Rakestraw, Scott Rakestraw, Sammy Freeman, Wendell Hardy, Benji Dockery, Rickey Rakestraw, David Walraven and Brad Ballew. Interment will follow at Dallas Memory Gardens.

 

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 4pm – 9pm, and Tuesday, October 25, 2011 form 11am until time of service.
