Helen L. Shelnut , age 75, of Powder Springs, GA, formerly of Thorsby, Birmingham, AL, passed away September 24, 2011. She was born November 11, 1935, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Evan Morrison and Louise Reid Morrison and was preceded in death by her brother Frank Morrison and grandsons Josh and Noah Shelnut. Mrs. Shelnut was a homemaker and a member of Thorsby First Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren, her Braves and most of all, her Alabama Crimson Tide football team.

 

Survived by her husband of 60 yrs, Oneal Shelnut of Powder Springs, GA; sons, Danny Shelnut and his wife, Heather of Cumming, GA, David Shelnut and his wife, Karen of NC and Darrell Shelnut and his wife, Tammy of Powder Springs, GA; daughters, Donna Lee and her husband, Terry of Albany, GA, and Renee Lacey and her husband, Terry of Dallas, GA; brother Curtis Morrison and his wife, Peggy of Thorsby, AL; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 2:45PM CST from Croft Acton Cemetery in Rocky Ridge, AL, with Reverend Wade Acton officiating. The family will receive friends at Clark Funeral Home, Hiram, GA, from 5-8pm EST on Monday, September 26, 2011 and also on Tuesday at the graveside from 1pm – 2:30pm CST.
