Another Helpful Tip from your local small engine man..

Recommended Posts

There's a NASTY little thing to check for, folks, if you're in the market for an Echo hand held weed eater or blower. The culprit is a carburetor on these machines that is called a Zama Rotary (RB). They are NOT adjustable, built in China, and required to reduce emissions (HA!!! on a 2-stroke engine that uses oil in the gas, this is just a freaking joke!  ). The Echo machines are as great as ever, high compression and lots of power, BUT, they are now being outfitted with a throw-away, and very expensive to replace, carburetor. Replacing the carb with a new one costs almost $100, and you'll be lucky to get more than a few hours from it. Just ONE tiny piece of trash entering this carb will ruin it. They cannot be "tanked", so there's no option but to buy another one, only to have it fail in a short time. They have no adjustments, and can be ID'd by this- they have a white plastic side where the primer bulb is, and the top where the throttle hooks up is black plastic. Here is a picture to help you out. These carb are being used on Craftsman blowers, and a myriad of other things. As I mentioned earlier in another thread, my back yard is filling up with these NEW machines.

As a small engine mechanic in this area, I feel obligated to educate my local folks, in an effort to keep them from throwing money out the window on total GARBAGE. If you take them back, then after about 1-2 weeks you will get them back, and they STILL will not run....I hear the horror stories every day, folks.
