Mrs. Mary Nell Shelton

Mrs. Mary Nell Shelton Age 80 of Dallas, Ga. Passed away on Tuesday May 10, 2011 at her residence.

 

Mrs. Shelton was born on June 25, 1930 in Paulding County Georgia to the late Mr. J.B. Smith and Mrs. Beatrice Jarmon.

 

Mrs. Shelton was married to the late Mr. William Stokes "Dub" Shelton, Jr.

 

Mrs. Shelton was the first woman to be elected to the Dallas City Council in 1981. Mrs. Shelton went on to serve as Mayor Pro Tem during the 1984 year.

 

A Graveside Funeral service will be held on Thursday May 12, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. from the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Matthew Glover officiating.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday May 12,2011 from 11:00 A.M. until they leave for the service at 2:00 P.M.

 

Survivors include:

 

Daughter: Mr. & Mrs. John (Carol) Fuller of Marietta, Ga.

 

Son: Mr. & Mrs. David (Margaret) Shelton of Dallas, Ga.

 

Grandchildren: Meghan Fuller, Patrick Fuller, Paul Shelton & Rebecca Shelton

 

Sister: Ms. Glenda Anglin

 

Brother: Mr. J. Robert Smith
