Mrs. Vivian "Grandma" Evans

Mrs. Vivian Dose Evans, age 97 of Dallas, Georgia formerly of Vicksburg, MS passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at a local Hospital.

 

 

 

Mrs. Evans was born in Issaquena County Mississippi on March 26, 1913 to loving parents the late Mr. Jacob Christian Dose, Sr and Mrs. Frances Moyzelle Tindol Dose. She was preceded in death by Her loving husbands Mr. John Ellis Gossen who passed away in 1937 and Mr. George Richard Evans who passed away in 2000; two daughters Doris Alise Evans Schlife who passed away in 1978 and Frances Louise Gossen Evans Mohr who passed away in 2001; two sisters and four brothers also preceded her in death.

 

 

 

Grandma Evans loved people; She shared her passion and concern for others as a Nurse employed by Nebraska State Hospital. She continued this later in life by visiting and caring for the elderly at nursing homes. Grandma Evans also worked part time for Kroger and was their oldest employee ever. Her favorite pastime was sharing her faith with friends and members of her friendship quilting club. Grandma Evans was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.

 

 

 

Mrs. Evans is survived by three daughters Mrs. Georgia Wyatt of Dallas, GA, Mrs. Kay Arwood of Baytown, TX, and Mrs. Judy Councell of Vicksburg, MS; one son Dr. John E. Gossen Evans of Sumner, MS; twelve grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews as well as other beloved family members and friends.

 

 

 

A memorial service will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist church in Hiram, GA on Saturday, March 26, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. Fellowship will precede the service from 3 – 4 p.m. Memorials may be made to Vista Care Hospice 6458 Spring Street, Suite 100 Douglasville, GA 30134, or your favorite charity.
