Charley Coalson, age 79, of Rockmart, GA, passed away Thursday, March 17, 2011. He was born, December 7, 1931, in Buchanan, GA, and was preceded in death by his parents, Grover J. & Elizabeth Moody Coalson, multiple brothers and sisters, and a grandson, Howard Cooper. Mr. Coalson retired from Lockheed after 38 years of service, as a machinist.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Lorene McClung Coalson; son & daughter-in-law, Dr. Barry Coalson & wife, Jennifer of Shelby, NC; daughters, Linda Rakestraw of Rockmart, GA and Sue Coalson Cooper of Dallas, GA; former daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Coalson of Huntington, WV; brother & sister-in-law, Johnny & Lucinda Coalson of Commerce, GA; brother-in-law, Alton Martin of Powder Springs, GA; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday, March 19, 2011, at 3:00 PM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Reverend Dwayne Lee and Reverend Johnathan Woodward officiating. Interment will follow in Peaceful Meadows Memorial Cemetery, with Doug Raburn, Robert McDowell, J. C. Thomas, Bruce Prater, Jessie Cooper, Tom Cooper, Carter Dunaway, and Sam Coalson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, March 18, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
