Clark Funeral Home Posted March 15, 2011 Report Share Posted March 15, 2011 (edited) Earl Alton Johnson, age 71, of Douglasville, GA (Paulding County), passed away Monday, March 14, 2011. He was born January 20, 1940, in Valley City, ND, and was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Alma Gertz Johnson, and a brother, Clayton Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a Viet Nam veteran of the U. S. Army. He was a broadcast engineer, previously with WXIA and retired from the Fox Entertainment Group. He was a member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Ann Johnson; sons, Timothy Earl Johnson & Taylor George of Douglasville, GA, and William E. Birdsong, III & Michelle Matthews of Douglasville, GA; daughter & son-in-law, Melanie Dene Donaldson & husband, Thomas of Douglasville, GA; brothers & sisters-in-law, Merle & Carol Johnson of North Dakota, and Milton & Connie Johnson of Lavonia, MI; sister & brother-in-law, Clarice & Bernard Heckman of Valley City, ND; Joyce Johnson of Valley City, ND; brother-in-law, Joseph Carlisle, Jr. of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law, Linda & Leon Hatcher of Waycross, GA; father-in-law, Joseph Carlisle, Sr. of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Leah & A. J. Mitchell, David Birdsong, Brooke Donaldson, Laura Donaldson, April Donaldson, Sara Birdsong, Brenden Matthews, Elizabeth Birdsong and Rylan Miller; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 10:00 AM, from Clark Funeral Home, with Brother Earl Schaffer and Ricky Gray officiating. Interment will follow in Georgia National Cemetery at 1:00 PM. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
