If you got a new sewing machine for Christmas and would like to learn how to use and maintain it call Pat at Pat's Apparel. New classes start in January. Each class will be 1 1/2 hours long and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The day of the week will depend on what day is best for the students. Preferably no more than 2-3 students in each class. Cost is $120 for 6 hours. All ages are welcome. Skills taught: Use of machine ie: learn how to thread machine and wind a bobbin, change needles, etc.... how to maintain your machine...how to sew straight stitches, curved, pivot, backstitch, zig zag...use of basic sewing tools such as tape measure, seam ripper, scissors, iron...how to hand-hem and sew on a button. Intermediate classes are available for someone who already knows these basics, and advanced classes are available if you would like to learn to use a purchased pattern. Any class can be geared toward the particular interest of the students such as: caring for your family's clothing, sewing home decor items, sewing purses, beginner fashion design for teenagers who have been inspired by 'Project Runway'.
