Mr. Elbert “Dude” Turner, age 82, of Dallas Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, November 16, 2010 at his home.

 

 

 

Mr. Turner was born in Dallas, Georgia August 28, 1928; the son of the late Mr. John Young Turner and Mrs. Tessie Lee Cochran Turner. Mr. Turner served his country in the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was self-employed in the construction industry specializing in heavy equipment operation. Mr. Turner was a member of Bartlett Masonic Lodge #139. He enjoyed deer hunting and bluegrass music.

 

 

 

Mr. Elbert Lamar Turner is survived by his loving wife, Mrs. Gertie Turner of Dallas, Ga; 2 daughters Mr. & Mrs. Michael (Janet) Hallmark, and Ms. Vanessa Turner both of Dallas, Ga; 2 grandchildren Courtnee Williams, and Erica Rakestraw; 1 brother and sister-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Fred (Lucille) Turner of Cartersville, Ga; 2 sisters Mrs. Mildred Womack of Dallas, Ga and Mrs. Myrtle Evans of Cartersville, Ga; nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents Mr. & Mrs. John (Tessie) Turner, 2 brothers Mr. Herbert Turner and J. L. Turner, 3 sisters Mrs. Irene Bell, Mrs. Vera Roberson, Mrs. Evelyn Biddy, and Mrs. Dorothy Ratteree.

 

 

 

Funeral services for Mr. Elbert “Dude” Turner will be held Friday, November 19, 2010 at 1 PM Reverend Jimmy Tibbits and Reverend Billy Moss officiating. Music will be provided by Jeff Eberhart, Becky Bearden, and Reverend Billy Moss. Pall bearers will include Jarrett Turner, Stacey Lee, Harlan Baxter, Stephen Worthan, Travis Brown, and Daniel Jenkins. Interment will follow at Peaceful Meadows Cemetery.

 

 

 

Visitation for Mr. Turner will be Thursday, November 18, 2010 from 4 PM – 8 PM and Friday, November 19, 2010 from 9 AM until the service begins at 1 PM.
