Funeral Director Posted October 4, 2010 Report Share Posted October 4, 2010 (edited) Mr. James Thomas Free Jr., age 82 of Dallas, GA passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at Wellstar Tranquility Hospice in Austell, GA. Mr. Free was born on December 15, 1927, the son of the late Mr. James Free, Sr. and Mrs. Beulah Rowell Free. Mr. Free served his country in the United States Army and served in WWII as an occupational soldier. He was a retired police officer and worked for many years for the City of Dallas Police Department. In his spare time, Mr. Free enjoyed fishing, traveling, and watching westerns. Mr. Free is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mrs. Frances L. Harper Free of Dallas, GA; 1 daughter, Mrs. Carol (Fred) Brand of Murfeesboro, TN; 3 sons, Mr. Jimmy (BJ) Free of Woodstock, GA, Mr. Brian (Pam) Free of Winston, GA, Mr. Mike Free of Dallas, GA; 2 brothers, Mr. Wayne Rowell of Dallas, GA, Mr. Larry (Jean) Rowell, of Dallas, GA; 1 sister, Ms. Evelyn Gibbs of Marietta, GA; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mr. Free is preceded in death by his beloved parents Mr. James Free, Sr. and Mrs. Beulah Rowell Free. Funeral services for Mr. James Free, Jr. will be conducted on Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at 11 am in the chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home with Brother Larry Hemphill and Bishop Kenneth Graham officiating. Music will be provided by Diane Hemphill, Jeff Eberhart and Brian Free. Pall bearers will include Jimmy Free, Mike Free, Brian Free, Terry McAdams, and Bryce Free. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, October 4, 2010 from 4 – 9 pm and Tuesday, October 5, 2010 from 9 – 11 am.
