Mrs. Bryant was born on June 14, 1946 to the late Jesse and Cornelia Strickland in Dallas, GA. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ron Strickland and revered grandmother, Little Nanny Lawrence of Dallas, GA. She is survived by her husband, Clay Bryant, her daughter and son-in-law, Corrie and Kevin Habib, two beloved grandchildren, Jack and Leila Habib, neice Stephanie Colclough of Hoover, AL, and Aunts and Uncles, Vernell and Sam Ragsdale, Savannah Butler, and Edna Huff of Dallas, GA. Gina grew up in Dallas, GA, graduating from Dallas High School. Her undergraduate degree was from Berry College where she was named Miss Berry College in 1966. She received her Master Degree from Jacksonville State College and did extensive post masters graduate work at the University of Georgia. She appeared on stage with the Rome and Savannah Little Theatre groups playing significant roles in many productions including Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Wait Until Dark, Oklahoma, and Pajama Game. Gina’s life work was in educational administration, teaching English and Drama, and directing student dramatic productions. She taught and administered in schools from the Everglades to Thorne Bay Logging Camp in Southeast Alaska, Savannah and St. Simons Island. The last 20 years she worked at Lakeview Academy as Development Director, English Department Chair, Director of Fine Arts, Literature Teacher, and Dramatic Productions Director. (http://www.lakeviewacademy.com/podium/push/default.aspx?i=1031&u=0&s=259) Her literary teams won numerous state titles. Dramatic and Musical productions produced with her dear friend CeCe Conrath won multiple awards and accolades. The hallmark of Gina’s work with young people was her role as supportive teacher and merciless taskmaster—she simultaneously demanded excellence and acted as cheerleader, and celebrator of achievement. Her demands were hard, but her humor and confidence in the abilities of her “kids” kept it all fun and worth every minute of effort. She touched many lives all over North America. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the “Gina S. Bryant Fine Arts Scholarship” at Lakeview Academy, www.lakeviewacademy.com/ginabryantfund or to the Southeastern Brain Tumor Foundation, www.SBTF.org, or your favorite charity.
