Jim Tims, age 65, of Dallas, passed away on Sunday, May 02, 2010. He was born on May 13, 1944, in San Diego, California, to the late Linnes & Barbara Tims. Mr. Tims retired after 20 years of service from the Atlanta Fire Department as a firefighter and was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church.

 

Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Ginger Tims of Dallas; son and daughter-in-law, Randy & Jamie Tims of Dallas; daughters, Tami Tims of Las Vegas, and Teresa Tims of California; brother, Tim Tims of California; sisters, Barbara Graham of California, and Patti Hales of Louisiana; grandchildren, Justin Marple, Jeremy Marple, Timothy Sims, Jared Bankston, Brayden Tims, and Mylee Tims; many nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., from New Canaan Baptist Church, with Pastor James H. Cook, Jr., Pastor Chad Cooper and Pastor William James Cook officiating. Mr. Tims will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Peaceful Meadows Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 3, 2010, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Jim also served as a volunteer firefighter in Paulding County for many years.He will be greatly missed.
