Funeral Director Posted February 19, 2010 Report Share Posted February 19, 2010 Mr. Harold Clay Mattox age 78 of Scottsboro Al, passed away February 18, 2010 at Tranquility Hospice. Mr. Mattox was born on August 13, 1931 in Ashland Al, the son of the late William Benson Mattox and Mary Frances Hallman. He was of the Baptist Faith. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Mattox worked as a Barber for over 30 years, and as a pipefitter for 18. He was a caring person and had a very generous heart. Mr. Mattox is survived by 1 daughter Mr. & Mrs. Allan (Jackie) Wilson of Dallas, Ga; 1 son Mr. & Mrs. Harold Franklin (Teresa Kay) Mattox of Scottsboro, Al; 4 granddaughters Mr. & Mrs. Melvin (Shawna) Pierce of Douglasville, Ga, Mr. & Mrs. Tadd (Tiffany) Danner of Dallas, Ga, Miss Allison Lori Mattox of Scottsboro, Al, and Rev. & Mrs. Kirk (Ashley) Griggs of Scottsboro, Al; 5 great grandchildren Skylar Pierce, Jayden Pierce, Alex Pierce and Christian Pierce all of Douglasville, Ga, and Max Wilson of Lady's Island, SC; 1 sister Mrs. Billie Frances Berry of Ringold, Ga; nieces and nephews as well as many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 36 years Mrs. Leila June Burke Mattox, and his loving parents Mr. & Mrs. William and Mary Mattox, and 19 brothers and sisters. Funeral Services for Mr. Harold C. Mattox will be held in the Chapel of Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Saturday, February 20, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Danny Mattox officiating, Shawna Pierce will be speaking and the service will be closed by Jackie Wilson. Music will be provided by Ashley Griggs. Interment will follow at Melwood Cemetery in Stone Mountain, Ga. Visitation Services for Mr. Mattox will be held at Jeff Eberhart Funeral Home on Friday, February 19, 2010 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Saturday, February 20, 2010 from 9:00 AM until the service begins at 1:00.
